Headed to Phoenix? Here is my personal review on Arizona Grand Resort and Spa. The all-suite resort has 744 rooms and is perfect location next to the 17,000 acre South Mountain Preserve. The resort is home of the Arizona Grand Golf Course with breathtaking mountain vistas and elevation changes along with a challenging par 71 layout. With its multiple pools and small water park with lazy river it has a lot to offer. The resort gives guests access to a large fitness center and spa, along with bike rentals. Guests have access to golf cart shuttles to take you where you need to go on the property.

The suites are a good size, with a separate living room. There are small balconies. Important to note, these complexes have a lot of stairs to access the outside door to your room. It's important if you can't do the stairs to ask for a ground floor access. Some rooms have amazing view while others face the mountains in the distance and the highway. Make sure you ask for a room that faces golf course and not a highway view.

There is one restaurant on the property and a bar. The prices are steep. There is an adjacent Mexican Restaurant next door where you can grab a golf cart shuttle to take you there and back.

If you want quick access to desert trails, it is adjacent to Arizona's South Mountain Preserve. Here you can find all levels of trails as well as mountain bike trails. The location is just southeast of Phoenix, so depending on what your headed to Phoenix for its important to check your map to see if this resort is the best location for you, because the highway driving can be a bit intense.

For excursions in this location try heading to Downtown Gilbert. It's off the beaten track of the busier well-known city's but it has a great downtown area full of open-air restaurants and bars along with shops and fun venues. Old town Scottsdale doesn't disappoint as well with its western looking shops and stores along with bars and restaurants. It's an easy drive to the beautiful Lost Dutchman State Park which is next to Tonto Forest National Park. Here you can find horseback riding along with beautiful hiking location for all levels. Keep going on Route Apache Trail to find mountain views and pull offs, along with Cayon Lake and ending at Tortilla Flats. Tortilla Flats is an old western town 1 block long. A great spot to grab a drink, food, ice cream or that souvenir before you head back.
