This is the day I became GeeGee for the first time! Connor Lawrence Powell was born, on this day, in 2005!! Connor, I did not know my heart could feel as full as it did when I saw you be born; the last time I'd been in a delivery room was when your dad was born! I did not know my heart could beat as loudly, and as proudly, as it did starting 12/15/2005. Looking at you, and witnessing how much people love you, has been a wonderful sight! You are amazing Connor. The love so many people have for you, should help you to realize that, no matter what you may face in life, you have a legion of people in your corner, cheering you on! You've been of such pride and joy to your dad. You've been of such love and comfort to your mom. You are the epitome of what a 'big brother' should be. I finally found a copy of one of my all-time favorite books, Balcony People by Joyce Landlord: your copy is on its way! You have been one of my most valuable Balcony People, from the delivery room to the present. I wish I were there to see you more often. I owe you so much, let's start with lunch. Even after 18 years, the mere thought of you still brings me so much joy and love. I want to share with you a small quote from that book.

To a phenomenal, God-given son-in-law on his 25th (again) birthday! 😆 Shawn, you have truly been a blessing, from the first moment I met you. I had been praying for Jacquie's husband, ever since she was a little girl. I prayed he would love Jacquie dearly, yet love God more; God answered all of that (and then some) when He brought you into her life. Your love for God is evident in everything you do and say. Your family is blessed to have you with them. You are a wonderful son, an amazing husband, a fantastic father, and (of course) a great son-in-law. You have always treated me with compassion, even when I didn't deserve it; for that I am very thankful . Above any of this, you are a dedicated son of God. What a phenomenal day today is! On this day, in 2011, my gorgeous grandson Kase Levi Powell was born. He was such a tiny little baby, but look how big he's gotten in just 12 short years! Stanton Russell Powell was born on this day, October 20, 1982, at 10:20am, at Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls Montana.
He's had the biggest heart, and kindest nature, from that moment on. Whether it was wanting to give all of the food we'd just bought to a homeless man in front of the Safeways in Soquel, Ca, or picking up his Grandma Phippen and putting her in his truck, because she couldn't reach, he's always looked out for the 'other guy.'
I am so thankful to be his mom, and to celebrate his life today.

They are 'pawesome' and keep on top of things. They take their jobs seriously. Midget was there less than 24 hours when they put us together, in 2019, and it's been love love love ever since!! Happy National Rescue Day! I'm so honored and thrilled to have Miss Midget Mae in my life. We found each other in a shelter in Tucson AZ. I don't know who was more scared. I found her hiding behind a bunch of dog beds (all I could see were her ears), completely terrified. They told me she had been there less than 24hrs. I'm glad for that, she was so scared I don't know what would happen if she was there any longer. The first time I held her I was hooked! That was 3+ years, and a move to Idaho later, and she's settled in with her 3 'cousins'. I've discovered Midget does NOT like car rides; even going to the groomers is a chore, nevermind the vet. She loves to cuddle, takes her half out of a queen-size bed, barks at leaves and has grown an infinity for snow. I'm so proud of her for taking me on. I was very surprised I have learned so much from her. I'm developing a way to deal with 'humans' because of her. Happy Rescue Day Midget, your mama loves you like crazy!
