If you would have asked me when I was younger what kinds of hobbies I envisioned myself pursuing with my husband, I don’t think mountain biking would have ever made the list.
Tbh I was never the best at riding a bike, and sometimes I still even don’t feel that confident😅
But I’m grateful for a partner who has pushed me out of my comfort zone to try something so different and challenging🚵
If you are just getting started mountain biking or want to get a bike & start riding with us— here’s some of my suggestions for beginners:
🚲Start Super Easy🚲
When I say I started on an easy trail, im telling you it was EASY 😂😂 it was pretty much a dirt bike path, but that’s honestly where I needed to start to get a feel for my bike & practice messing with it’s functions.
🚲Error on the Cautious Side🚲
don’t push yourself to do things you don’t feel ready for. My husband might disagree with this one 😂 but I’m a firm believer that if you’re not confident that you can do something, you aren’t going to do it confidently & then you’re more at risk of hurting yourself.
There’s a difference in trying something new once you’ve built up to a new skill or technical route.
Nothing will ruin the sport for you more than a serious injury from attempting something you aren’t ready for as a beginner.
🚲Find Someone to Ride With🚲
I love riding with Levi because I know he enjoys it, but I’ve also enjoyed riding with .swapp because we are at the same skill level. We push each other just enough to get better & go faster, but we both know our limits.
🚲Get Good Gear🚲
I love having padded shorts to keep my b***y from getting too sore & wearing a riding jersey so I don’t get sunburnt! Plus I feel pretty bad*ss wearing it 😂
I am by NO MEANS an expert, I’m still very much a beginner! But mountain biking is super intimidating to a lot of women I’d love to get more girls out on the trail with me, so lmk if you wanna go for a ride 😎
