We have been excited to hear this weekend that composer John Rutter has been awarded a knighthood in the King’s 2024 Birthday Honours. Concert day has dawned bright and DRY! Tickets for Elijah are available online this morning, or at Truro Cathedral door from 6.45pm.
Should be a great event, the choir and orchestra were on good form on Tuesday, and the soloists are on their way from London!

Tickets are on sale for our Elijah concert! Elijah is deservedly one of the most well-known examples of all choral music, famed for its melodic and dramatic movements. We will be joined by Truro Symphony Orchestra and by 4 exciting soloists who are studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Later postings will feature each of these fine young musicians.

Getting to the Festival of Light.

The Festival of Light will run on three nights this year – 28, 29 and 30 December from 5:00pm to 7:30pm on all evenings, (last admissions 7:00pm). Entry is FREE with donations much appreciated.
Parking in the church car parks will be limited to Blue Badge holders but there will be ample organised parking in nearby fields with a drop off and shuttle buses. Please note that parking is at your own risk, sturdy footwear and torches recommended.
There will be a community bus shuttle service from the car parks to St Just and back and also Go Cornwall have organised a shuttle service between St Mawes and St Just in Roseland (£2 each way)
Shuttle bus depart St Mawes at 17.45, 18.15, 18.45 and 19.15.
Shuttle bus depart St Just at 18.00, 18.30, 19.00, 19.30 and 20.00.

Those travelling by car are encouraged to fill it with family or friends to reduce the number of vehicles on the roads. The King Harry Ferry will extend their normal winter hours on all three nights with the last ferry at 7:50pm from Philleigh side.

The singers enjoyed last night's performance of Handel's Messiah, and the audience seemed very appreciative.
On to the next concert, Mendelssohn's "Elijah", another great choral work! Now, or in January, is a great time to join the choir!

Only a couple of days to go before we welcome Elizabeth Watts (soprano), Madeleine Shaw (mezzo-soprano), Eamonn Mulhall (tenor), Tim Mirfin (bass) and sopranos Imogen Dowse and Millie Montgomery-Smith to sing with us in Truro Cathedral, on 18th November. The most marvellous music awaits: Bach’s Magnificat, Mozart’s Requiem and Mozart’s Horn Concerto No 4 with soloist Lynn Henderson, along with Three Spires Singers & Orchestra all conducted by James Anderson-Besant.

Three Spires Singers' next concert is coming up on 18th November, featuring Mozart's Requiem and his Horn Concerto No 4, with young Cornish musician Lynn Henderson in the solo role, and Bach's Magnificat. Tickets for anyone 25 and under are just £1. We would love to encourage lots of young music lovers to attend live events like this.
