Day 22: Pick your own Lobster for supper, because who needs a menu when you can just point at your dinner?

This was a ridiculously authentic Newfoundland Labrador experience with seafood so fresh you'd think you're a fisherman yourself, minus the whole fishing thing. If you want to dine on the dock, and I mean literally on the dock, with hospitality that's just as lovely as the views, don't even think about missing this place in Hillgrade, just a stone's throw from Twillingate. They're closed for the season, but fingers crossed they'll be back next year, because their chowder, fish and chips, and sunsets are the ultimate triple threat.

Check them out on your adventures at Doyle W. Sansome & Sons Super Lobster Pool it’s a place to be for sure!!

It’s been a couple years since we have been there but we loved it!!

Day 21: Go on a boat photography excursion on your own! 📸 It's ridiculously easy to snap pics of boats in this province. I'm totally hooked! lol. The boats are jaw-dropping! Every small fishing boat, whether afloat, docked, or beached, offers a ridiculously cool photo op. As I always say, this province is a photographer's playground!

Day 19: Lumsden Beach!

🚗 So, summer 2020 was a real treat, and this beach was the icing on the cake! I'm still in awe of all the amazing sandy beaches we have in this province. I mean, I had no idea! This beach was my first bucket list adventure, and it did not disappoint. We got soaked in the rain, but it was worth it. Now everyone's talking about this bustling beach, and I'm just over here, smiling!! It’s a def thing to do!!

Day 18: Greenspond, where have you been all my life?!

🚗This adorable community has been around since the 1600s and it's packed with historic buildings, stunning shoreline, and a 6km loop trail that's just begging to be walked. I'm seriously wondering how I didn't know about this place before the pandemic, but I guess that's what happens when you're stuck in a rut. The pandemic might have ruined our travel plans, but it's also given me a newfound appreciation for the hidden gems in my own backyard. I'm making it my mission to explore every inch of this province and share all my adventures with you!!

Day 17: Experience the Capelin Roll!

🐟An annual event spanning the province, the capelin roll draws both locals and tourists to the rocky beaches. What is this event, you ask? It's when these small, glittering fish migrate to the shore to spawn. The atmosphere is electric, as people congregate at the beaches, wearing rubber boots and armed with buckets and catch nets, in pursuit of a daily catch. Some individuals eat these small fish, while others release them, but the thrill of watching them is undeniable. Furthermore, their presence attracts whales, with humpbacks often seen feeding close to shore. This phenomenon is truly awe-inspiring! Put it on your list!!

Day 16: Ida’s Tea Room in Greenspond !

🚗 Also located on the Gander Loop of The Shore is Tea Room and it is the sweetest spot… no pun intended!! We have been there a couple of times but the first time was the first summer during the pandemic..so 2020…

☕️True story… Walk-in and ask for Ida! Lovely lady says no she’s not here but I am the owner. I say ok great but is Ida here? 🤣🤣She says no with a puzzled look on her face then explains that the tea room is named Ida after both owner’s grandmothers AND the last lady that lived in the house!! Fun fact and cool meet cute!! Lol

Anyway.. the place is so cute! The cinnamon buns are to die for. They take like 9 hours to make!! The cheesecake is pretty sweet too!!

❤️Make it a road trip if you are going along there! Hang the right and get off route 320 on to Greenspond Road! You won’t be disappointed!! Promise!!

DAY 15: Washed Ashore Antiques for the win!

🚗I loved this little gem. Located along the Gander Loop or Shore this is a must see stop!! We went as we were heading to Fogo Island ( we took the long route) on route 320 in the town of Centreville-Wareham-Trinity

🛍There is all kinds of cool stuff there. Collectables, some local finds and the owner is super nice. I found some 1970s brandy glasses, a mug and an owl when we were there! We also grabbed a coffee and a chat! Happy adventures guys!!

Day 14: Winter Adventures are so fun!!

❄️Getting out of the house on a good day can be challenging for so many so getting out in the cold is even more difficult! It will make you feel better tho… I promise!! ❄️

🔥Not much snow around yet but when there is we like to snow shoe and have boil ups and campfires!! 🔥

The fresh air is amazing and refreshing! What’s your fav winter activity?

Day 13: Beautiful Flat Rock next to Torbay NL has plenty of coastline! The stunning views and the fresh air will be worth it I promise. The name came from a huge long Flatish Rock that extends along the coastline and ends at what locals call the Beamer! It’s the furthest point out and the view is gorgeous! Not a hard walk just be SUPER careful once. You get to those rocks. They can be slippery. It’s a popular spot for cod fishing with rods too during the Food Fishery!! It’s a great little advent!!

Day 12: Take a stroll down Water St to the Pedestrian Mall

📅 Check the calendar first, they're only open in July, August, and part of September!

🍔You'll find awesome restaurants and cafes along the way, so grab a craft beer, munch on some nachos, and enjoy the local entertainment - it's actually pretty great!

We usually go a few times throughout the summer! So much to see! They add new events every year too. Last year they added a street market which was lovely!!

Just strolling and looking at the old buildings itself is a treat! George St is just steps away too so it’s truly awesome !

Want a real treat?… just stay the night in the area and make a weekend out of it!!

Day 11: Take a NL Fishing Stage Photo Tour!

🏚️These are some pictures of Stages that I took on my adventures over these past 4 years! I think I am obsessed with them actually. I think it’s because I think that can tell stories. lol. They were the first gathering places in rural NL. These structures are traditional and are deeply rooted in our fishery of course. This is where the men got ready to fish, talked about the catch of the day and talked about life!

Stages over the years in many communities have been rejuvenated. Those famous red colours with the white dots on the doors are picture worthy which is why some of these stages are the most photographed in the world!! I have identified the ones that are super famous! Do you know where they are located!!

I live taking pictures of these fascinating and interesting structures. They are part of our heritage and part of who we are!!

Day 10: 🐳Whale watching is simply exhilarating! 🐳

🐳We went out of Petty Harbour with Ocean Quest Adventures and we had a fantastic day!! The whales the day we went were circling around the zodiac which was super cool. We didn’t see any whales breech that day but it sure was exciting…. Minus the fact that I was sea sick I still had the best time!! I need to be on a bigger boat I think!

There are so many great tour operators in this province. Whales are plentiful from June to august usually! Humpbacks and minkes are most common! Humpbacks are known for their acrobatics, showcasing their massive tails. You may witness blows and breaches! Minkes usually glide through the water surfacing near boats.

Tours are usually about 2-3 hours and are usually led by experienced guides who provide valuable insights into marine wildlife, geology and history of the area. This is super important because as we all we know that you can’t call the whales to see what time they will be there…lol… Even if you do not catch a glimpse of these sea wonders you will have a spectacular front row seat to the rugged coastline of our province, no matter where you are! A photographers dream these tours will not disappoint! BE CAMERA READY…

PRO TIP: Dress in layers… even if it is a warm sunny day on land it can be quite chilly out there on the water!

Day 9: One of the best ways to fight off those winter blues is to have a winter boil up!

📍Breathing that fresh air outside is simply refreshing. There is no way to decsribe that feeling of being in that moment, in the cold , with a hot cuppa your fav beverage! For me it’s the Baileys Coffe. lol.
It kinda clears your mind and rejuvenates your soul. It’s the best medicine for sure! Sadly I do not get to do it not neare as much as I wish to but dreaming of those days are just as good sometimes! ☕️

Day 8: Hike the incredible Skerwink Trail near gorgeous Port Rexton!

🚗Located on the Bonavista Peninsula this one is a must do. A bit of a hard one so bring lots of water and some good hikers! The coastline is stunning and well worth the work out! This one is filled with panoramic views and sea stacks… plus you can always end off your day and quench your thirst with a craft beer from Port Rexton Brewing!

Day 7: Topsail Beach
📍I Love Topsail Beach. It’s located in Topsail about half an hour from St Johns!! It’s a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. It’s awesome there. It’s a rocky beach with the best sunsets! You can sit and watch the waves or have a picnic. I the summer time they sometimes even have entertainment!! It’s a great way to relax and have a beach fire too. They have ready made fire pits … just bring a bitta wood!! Loves it!!

Day 6: Brimstone Head on Fogo Island!

📍Also known as The Stairway to Heaven cuz there are soooo many steps!! These steps lead to the most incredible view!! Once thought to be one of the four corners of the world by early historians this spot is spectacular

When we visited. We found a rock with a picture on it. It was left by the daughter of a mother that wanted to visit Fogo Island! She brought it to the top of Brimstone Head so her mama could look at that view whenever she wanted. I loved this!❤️❤️

If you ever get the chance to visit please do so! You won’t regret it!
