Who doesn’t love ice cream!! Homemade ice cream!! Ice cream that brings ya back to your childhood? Remember the strawberry shortcakes? Remember the cookie crumble on the outside and the strawberry jam in the middle?… Same Ting!! Remember the Jet and Buried Treasure… same but you don’t get the treasure!! This is a dandy ice cream drop if you are in the Holyrood ( Harbour Main Exactly) area. They also have all kinds of other treats to choose from so I will be back!! The store is right across the road from the swimming hole! It’s a place to be with Lori Lee!! ❤️❤️🍦

What a beautiful experience! I think it would be super cool to see NL artists featured in an immersive gallery like this. Can you imagine our scenery coming to life on a digital screen. Imagine all the photos that could be used or the work of Adam Young. How spectacular would it be!! AMAZING!!

We had the best time at Woody Island Resort! I will call this one….

❤️𝓦𝓪𝓷𝓭𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓦𝓸𝓸𝓭𝔂 𝓘𝓼𝓵𝓪𝓷𝓭...

Woody Island, a cozy little island just a stone's throw away from the Burin Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador, is like a time machine to simpler days of Newfoundland life. It had long been on my travel wish list, and guess what? I finally ticked it off!

Resettlement plays a significant role in the history of this province. During the 1960s, numerous families transported their homes across the bays, uprooting their lives in pursuit of improved amenities, healthcare, education, and lifestyles for a better future. While some relocated voluntarily, others were more “compelled” to do so, creating a profound connection to the islands off the coast of our province.

Woody Island, which once had a population of almost 400 thriving residents, now hosts The Woody Island resort, attracting tourists eager to experience island life and its tranquility. The island itself now boasts more than 70 cabins and those owners are those with deep ties to this charming island.

With a newfound crush on this province, I was all in for a journey to Woody Island. Off went on a road-trip to the Burin Peninsula, landing on this gem in Placentia Bay. My mom hails from a small community in Placentia Bay too, Little Harbour East and her ancestors came from a neighboring island called Kingwell! Ever since my dad's passing, I've been taking mama away on staycations, and this year, Woody Island stole the spotlight! It’s important to me to spend time and make memories with her so this road trip was the perfect choice!

It had that traditional charm - it was like stepping back in time and completely off the grid. Goodbye TVs and landlines, hello tranquility! Surprisingly, cell service was on point, a modern-day miracle of course LOL. The aim of this adventure? Connect, unwind, make pals, and savor that heavenly homemade bread! And OMG was it ever good!!

I always say that a Staycation is good for the soul and this one did not dissappoint!

I am a picture girl! The old saying of how a picture has a thousand words rings so true with me! Like you get lost! You picture yourself there in that spot! Its like you can smell the coffee or the salty ocean. So I’d like to take you on our virtual staycatiion to The Woody Island Resort!

🚗Road Trip Photo Dump🚗

We like to jump in the car and take little Roadtrips. That’s how we grew up. My dad always took us on a Sunday drive and in the summer we drove around for 2 weeks every summer. lol. Sometimes we plan and sometimes it’s spontaneous and a little bit of a surprise! I love that. It’s fun being adventurous! We love meeting new people and I take a lot of pictures!! I am a visual person more than a reader. I like to look at magazines instead of books. lol. That’s how I learn as too !!

On our roadies last week we went to Old Perlican and Bay de Verde! Took a spin to Grates Cove and Red Head Cove… here’s our photo road trip! Enjoy!!

I always say to create a roadie that revolves around what you love to do! These are things we like to do when we are out and about!!

🌅Loves sunset… I just get kinda lost in the moment
🍺Loves a good beer or cider or wine or a cocktail or a mocktail. Lol
🍕Gotta have da pizza or some good snacks!!
🥾We always try to get in a walk or hike and enjoy the view! Fresh air is amazing.
🏠A cozy spot to stay is a must! We have been lucky to try so many different kinds of spots right from luxury, to traditional, off grid and unique!!

I feel like I am always writing a love letter to Newfoundland Labrador. I fall in love more and more as we explore. I feel stronger and more passionate as I meet new people and hear more stories about how people are connected to this island. Bravo Newfoundland Labrador…. You are keeping me on the edge of my seat !! Thanks so much!! I love you more. lol

A roadie down the Bacalieu Coastline was amazing!! First stop the Victoria Heritage / Tourism society in Victoria BC… Behind Carbonear!! Worth the stop as the community has taken great pride in reconstructing and replicating some historic buildings of days gone by. They have preserved and created interesting displays for locals and tourists!! They should be proud of what they have accomplished!! The staff were super friendly too!! Great job everyone and here are a few pictures of our visit there!!

It’s located on the Avalon peninsula and a little over 1 hour from St Johns!! There is a museum, a general store, church, War memorial, town hall, train station, barn, Post Office, Barber Shop, a School House and so much more!! So awesome!!

📍FOX ISLAND TRAIL
🚗Located in Champneys West, Bonavista Peninsula

What a beautiful trail. Gorgeous views. Just enough to get your heart rate up and get your sweat on. It takes about an hour ( depending on how many pics you take) it’s the perfect mix of coastal views and wooded areas. Well marked. The end of the trail takes you through the community which I loved. It takes you right down by the ocean and past a little wharf area with colorful stages which you can rent ( I think…. If someone had info please drop it in the comments) The Champney's West Aquarium is basically on the trail, there is a young fella cooking a few hot dogs at the end, there is a little craft shop called Side Crafts and Things which was closed the day we went by but it looks like a cute little
Spot! It’s such a pretty and unique trail because it is part community trail! I totally want to go back to that area!

DAY 18: The Atlantic puffin is the official bird of Newfoundland and Labrador !! They are the cutest friendliest birds! The best places to see them is at Cape Bonavista lighthouse, Elliston at the puffin viewing site which is where this video was recorded and on the Southern shore at the ecological reserve ( this one is only observed on a boat) In having said that they can be viewed while on boat tours around the island too. It’s a memorable experience here in NL!! ❤️
