Learning how to surf takes time, patience, practise and a really great surf instructor.

Growing up a block away from the pacific ocean on Sayulita beach, Chilo’s life has revolved around the water since he was a young boy. As a child, he was a competitive swimmer, which shortly turned into competitive boogie boarding and of course, longboarding. And when the ocean was still, (or when he got hungry), you could catch him fishing by the point.

But his passion didn’t stop there. Chilo wanted to do more and learn more about the ocean so he decided to go to collage for scuba diving technology. This gave him the practical knowledge and skills needed to continue his life-long passion. Soon after he graduated school, Chilo made a career out of his passion. Taking travellers from all walks of life to explore the ocean and his beautiful home town of Sayulita.

He has turned his life’s work into educating, guiding and sharing his passion for the ocean with those who want to learn and explore.

Spotted on one of our whale watching boat trips the other day the Blue-Footed B***y.

Blue-footed bo***es are aptly named, and males take great pride in their fabulous feet. During mating rituals, male birds show off their feet to prospective mates with a high-stepping strut. The bluer the feet, the more attractive the mate.

These bo***es live off the western coasts of Central and South America. The Galápagos Islands population includes about half of all breeding pairs of blue-footed bo***es.
