The weather is so good that we have opened the swimming pool early this year! The heating is back on, and the pool should be very inviting for the lucky guests who are staying this weekend. The graph (recorded today via our remote monitoring system) shows how the water temperature of our pool is controlled to be an ideal 28-30°C, staying around 30°C for the main portion of the day.

To put this in context, the sea temperature at Colwyn Bay is currently a chilly 7.5°C; the unheated pool temperature at Cedar Lodge earlier this week was 10°C; municipal indoor swimming pools are generally kept at 27-28°C for adults, with indoor "children pools" at 29-30°C.

What all this means is that when you stay at Cedar Lodge during times when the pool is in operation, you will find the water to be a lovely inviting temperature. The pool will remain open until the end of the Summer season and although the main school holidays are now booked for 2022, we still have some availability this year (and are now taking bookings for 2023). Don't forget about Staycation Insurance!

Whether at Cedar Lodge or elsewhere, we hope you have a wonderful stay. However, if things go wrong it is reassuring to have some cover and we strongly recommend that all guests take out insurance for their holiday. There are lots of choices (see moneysupermarket and comparethemarket for examples), but look for policies that cover unexpected cancellation (for health reasons etc.) and personal liability (for accidental damages in your holiday home). For as little as £10-£20 you could literally save yourself thousands of pounds.
The picture shows before and after a recent unfortunate accident that a guest had at Cedar Lodge, which means that of course we need to replace the damaged item and charge for the replacement. Fortunately, such accidents are rare, but Staycation Insurance would have covered the costs for the guests.
The replacement dressing table will be in place in a couple of weeks.

Introducing our new assistant... Pepe the robotic pool cleaner
To keep the pool in top condition, we have a new addition to the Cedar Lodge team. "Pepe" (as Lorraine has named it 😊) will now be on duty between change-overs.
We look forward to the pool heating coming back on from April when it is open for guests.

It is certainly true that 2022 bookings are very strong, with Cedar Lodge already being 60% full for April/May/June 2022, and 80% full for July and August 2022. Whether you are looking at Cedar Lodge or elsewhere for your 2022 holiday, we recommend that you book soon to avoid disappointment.

In time for the Summer 2021 holiday season... new outdoor dining and lounge area

Our latest additions to Cedar Lodge make the huge decked balcony with scenic views even more inviting.

First, we have replaced our two 6-seater tables with a new 12-seater table, including a large parasol with integral LED lighting. Your whole holiday group can now eat together on the balcony, with fantastic views as standard.

Second, next to this we have created a new outside lounge area where you can sit in comfort. Where better to relax than when overlooking the fabulous views, large garden and heated swimming pool?

We are fully booked for July and August this year, but there are still available slots in September and October if you would like a peaceful break in the beautiful Welsh countryside. We are also taking bookings for Summer 2022... remember to book early to avoid disappointment!

New for 2021 #4: New patio area overlooking the pool

The area above the pool was overgrown and needed a lift. So we have restored the ornate metal gates and fencing, added a comfortable new patio, and made a convenient extra path to the pool. It is somewhere you can have a drink or a bite to eat, close to the bustle of the swimmers, but without getting splashed! Great for early morning tea or a quiet evening drink, we hope you will find it a great addition to Cedar Lodge.

New for 2021 #3: Hanging chairs

We have added a couple of hanging chairs on the patio that runs under the enormous balcony at Cedar Lodge. Remarkably comfortable, they allow you to take in the gorgeous views. Our double hammock that is next to the swimming pool is already a firm favourite, so now there are two single hammocks to go with it!
