We're stoked to announce the GS Rallye is go again for 2023!
Open to all makes of motorcycle, the GS Rallye is similar in style to the Triumph Tiger Adventure Ride we ran - a road or road/gravel adventure ride. This event is supported by BMW Motorrad NZ, the BMW Motorcycle Club NZ and organised by us at Kiwi Rider, this year’s event is over the weekend of October 27-29th.
After the success of last year and lots of positive feedback, the Rallye will once again be based at Lakes Ranch, Rotorua. There will be different courses for both the Sealed and the Gravel ride options. Additionally, for those running full knobbly tyres, there will be a challenge section of around 40km. As the Challenge section will be demanding, so the knobbly tyre requirement is non negotiable; we will send out a list of acceptable tyres on receipt of entry.
As always, the GS Rallye open to all brands of machine, not only BMW machines, and the routes are rideable in any weather. It is not an ‘extreme’ adventure ride, but it is an adventure. We supply old school route sheets, which we believe offer a more interactive experience than following a GPS line. You are quite welcome to create your own GPS route from our route sheets. The main reason for this is the large range of GPS units available makes it hard to provide one file to suit all. Some riders have said they had good results photographing the route sheets and then used their phone to view the sheets as they rode.
The entry fee is $200 for non-BMW machines, $160 for BMWs and $150 for BMW MCNZ members, pillions are $140. The entry form, includes a link to the BMW MCNZ membership application – they offer a wide range of social rides, discounts and benefits, and you don’t need to own a BMW to join, just have an interest.
The entry fee includes two dinners, two breakfasts, a choice of routes, back up vehicles, old school route sheets, event t-shirt and sticker kit, and a great weekend of riding and socialising with like-minded people and some great spot-prizes up for grabs.
Accommodation is available on-site at Lakes ranch, please use the accommodation link in the entry form and pay Lakes Ranch directly for your accommodation. Alternatively, Rotorua has a wide range of accommodation options to suit every budget.
