There are so many different apps out there, like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge. But did you know you can use these apps in ways you might not have thought of?

Here’s a personal story from when I traveled to Tokyo. I was only going to be there for about 27 hours and wanted to make the most of my solo trip. These dating apps offer a premium service that lets you connect with people in other cities even before you get there. So, while I was in Miami, I dropped my pin in Tokyo and connected with women there.

When I matched with someone, I sent a message like this: “Hey, I’m coming to Tokyo and I just want to see your city. What are some of the best things? What do you love about your city? And if you have time when I’m visiting, I would love for you to show me around.”

This approach worked wonders! It wasn’t pushy, so I got many responses. I ended up having some of the best tour guides and had a great time with someone I was attracted to.

Remember, apps like Bumble aren’t just for dating. You can use them to find friends who share your interests, like playing chess or exploring new places. If you’re traveling solo, dating apps can be one of the best ways to connect with locals.
I hope this helps.

The smoothest way to re-enter the US is with Global Entry. Just scan your fingerprints—no customs forms, no hassle. Simply hit the kiosk, and you're home!

For frequent international travelers, Global Entry is a must. It makes you a Trusted Traveller, meaning a few things the government needs to check about you. But it’s worth it:
* No processing lines
* No paperwork
* Expedited entry into other countries

We’ll list below the countries participating in Global Entry. It’s available at nearly every major US airport.
Global Entry also gives you TSA PreCheck automatically. So, how do you qualify?
1. Create an account on the Trusted Traveller Programme (TTP) website.
2. Complete the application (everyone needs their own account, regardless of age).
3. Pay a $100 non-refundable fee.
4. After approval, schedule an interview at a Global Enrollment Center

For the interview, bring:
* Valid passport and another ID (like a driver’s license)
* Permanent resident card, if applicable

Processing can take over 90 days and includes a full background check. This is to ensure you're eligible for expedited US entry. They check for criminal history, customs and immigration violations, and more.

I don’t have Global Entry because I find listing countries visited in the last five years too tedious. But if you’re patient, it’s highly recommended!

Bonus: Many premium travel credit cards reimburse the $100 fee.

When I visit large cities around the globe, I always have a better experience when I know someone there. Having a friend who can show you the cool spots and give you a guided tour makes all the difference.

That’s exactly what With Locals is all about! Just enter the location and date of your visit, and you can choose a local to take you on a private guided tour of the city!

Many guides even have a short video introducing themselves, so you can get a glimpse into who will be showing you around. It’s a great way to see if you’ll get along with them.

They say one city can have many faces, and WithLocals lets you experience a city through the eyes of your chosen guide.
Early in our travels, Hannah and I were in Kuala Lumpur, and to be honest, it overwhelmed us a little. We didn’t know where to go or what to do. So, we hired a local. He gave us a tour of the city, took us to his favorite restaurants, and helped us with things like tipping, transport, and dress codes. He showed us what to do and not to do in KL.

We loved it and love this company, so we wanted to pass it on to you. 🌟

These are the things that I take with me: "must-have".

1. Apple AirTags: I have one attached to my wallet, backpack, and keys. If I ever lose any of them, I can easily track them down. Getting something back after losing it feels amazing, and it's happened to me multiple times.
2. Power Bank: There are many options, but having one makes all the difference.
3. Wireless Headphones with Noise Cancellation: I don't travel without them. I have workout headphones, Apple AirPods, and AirPod Maxes. They're a game-changer on noisy planes and trains. Trust me, it's worth the investment.
4. Hard Drive: I carry a mini hard drive to avoid running out of space on my computer. Great for backing up photos and videos. I'll list some SSD and regular options below.
5. Universal Travel Adapters: Different countries have different plugs. Universal travel adapters are essential. I recommend buying three to charge your laptop, phone, and other devices.
6. A Trusty Pen: Often overlooked but invaluable when filling out customs forms or taking notes. I always keep one in my backpack.
7. Portable Speaker: A portable speaker can change everything. Perfect for a boat, an outdoor workout, or an Airbnb without a sound system. My personal favorite is Bose. Team favorites are listed below.
8. Extra Underwear and T-shirt: Pack an extra pair in your backpack. You never know when you might need them. Clean un**es and a fresh shirt can make a big difference.
9. Credit Card/Debit Card: Always keep an extra card and ID in a safe pouch in your backpack and checked luggage. It’s a lifesaver if you lose your wallet or get pick-pocketed.
10. Hoodie: Planes can get cold. A hoodie will make your flight much more comfortable.
11. Cash: Carry some cash because sometimes cards don't work. A couple of hundred dollars can be very helpful.

Why should you join an airline alliance?? Joining an airline alliance offers many benefits that enhance your travel experience by leveraging the cooperation of multiple airlines. Here are the key points to understand:

Benefits of Airline Alliances include access to a broader range of destinations and smoother connections.

You’ll also receive frequent flyer benefits such as earning and redeeming miles, access to airport lounges, priority service and flexible travel options.

The first step would be to choose a frequent flyer program from an airline within and alliance you use most frequently.

Step 2 will be to start accumulating miles (drop a ✈️ and I’ll send you the link to discover how to do this easily).

Step three would be to track your status, and the last step of course would be to redeem your miles.

Even if you don't spend much, you can still get a bunch of points by signing up for new credit cards that offer big bonuses when you spend a certain amount in the first few months. This is a quick way to boost your points without changing your regular spending habits.Another way to get more points is by using credit cards that give extra points for things you buy often, like groceries or eating out. Some loyalty programs have online shopping and dining programs where you can earn points for buying stuff or going to restaurants.

Keep an eye out for special offers and promotions from loyalty programs and credit card companies. They often have deals where you can earn extra points for things like staying at a hotel or shopping at certain stores. You can also earn points by referring friends to sign up for new credit cards.
If you like to travel, there are ways to use your points to get free flights or hotel stays. Look for good deals and be flexible with your travel plans to get the most out of your points. You can also team up with friends or family members who collect points to pool your points together and get bigger rewards.

Luxury hotels can seem out of reach due to their high cash prices, but with the strategic use of miles and points, they become accessible.

Luxury hotels are not out of reach when you play the miles and points game wisely. By earning points through credit card bonuses, strategic spending, and loyalty programs, and then redeeming those points effectively, you can enjoy high-end accommodations and services that might otherwise be prohibitively expensive. This approach allows you to experience luxury travel without the hefty price tag, making your trips more enjoyable and memorable.

Steps to Get Started

1. Choose the Right Credit Card: Research and select travel credit cards that align with your travel habits and goals. Look for cards with generous sign-up bonuses and strong earning potential for your spending patterns.
2. Join Loyalty Programs: Enroll in hotel loyalty programs to start earning points from your stays and take advantage of member-only promotions.
3. Plan Your Stays: Research luxury hotels within your chosen loyalty program. Look for off-peak times and promotions to maximize your points’ value.
4. Combine Strategies: Use a combination of credit card points, hotel stays, and promotions to build your points balance.

06/06/2024

Using frequent flyer miles on low-value redemptions generally means you are not maximizing the value of your miles. Here’s why you should avoid this practice and some ways to better utilize your miles:Understanding Value Per Mile
The value of frequent flyer miles is often calculated based on the redemption value per mile. This can be expressed as cents per mile (CPM). For example, if a flight costs $500 or 50,000 miles, the value per mile would be 1 cent per mile ($500/50,000 miles).

Low-Value Redemptions
Low-value redemptions occur when the value per mile is lower than what you could potentially achieve. For instance:

If a domestic flight costs $100 or 15,000 miles, the value per mile is about 0.67 cents.
If you use the same 15,000 miles for a flight that would otherwise cost $300, the value per mile is 2 cents.

Reasons to Avoid Low-Value Redemptions
1) Using miles for low-value redemptions means you are missing out on the potential to get more value in the future. Miles can often be used for premium cabin seats, international flights, or last-minute bookings, where cash prices are high but mile requirements might remain relatively low.

2) Frequent flyer programs can devalue miles by increasing the number of miles needed for a redemption or reducing the availability of award seats.

3) Keeping your miles for high-value redemptions provides greater flexibility. For example, having miles available for emergency travel or peak travel times when cash prices are exorbitant can be a lifesaver.

Cash vs. Miles: If you can afford to pay for a low-cost ticket in cash, it’s often better to do so. Save your miles for times when paying in cash would be financially burdensome.

Looking for cheap flights? *note, the cheapest. Not always the most luxurious 1. Flight comparison websites allow you to search for flights, compare prices, and book tickets from a wide range of airlines and travel agencies. They can help you find the best deals on flights and save money on your next trip.

2. When booking flights, it's worth considering whether a one-way or return ticket is the best option. In some cases, a one-way ticket may be cheaper than a return ticket, especially if you are traveling to multiple destinations. However, in other cases, a return ticket may be more affordable. It's important to compare prices and consider your travel plans before making a decision.

3. Direct flights can be more expensive than flights with layovers, so it's worth considering connecting flights as a way to save money. While layovers may add some or a lot of extra travel time, they can often result in significant savings!!

4. Error fares are airfare prices that are significantly lower than the usual price due to a mistake made by the airline or a third-party booking website. These mistakes can happen for a variety of reasons, such as incorrect currency conversions, computer glitches, or human error.
These pop up at random, and they don't last long. If you go to any of these sites and find an error fare that you can and would like to take, you must act fast and book immediately.

5. Airlines often send out email newsletters with exclusive promotions and discounts to their subscribers, so it's a good idea to sign up for these newsletters for airlines that serve your preferred destinations.

You’ve been hearing about points and miles EVERYWHERE, but what can you actually do with them? Depending on the program and how you choose to redeem them, here are some common ways you can use miles and points:

✈️ Flight Redemptions: This is one of the most popular uses of miles. You can redeem miles to book flights with partner airlines or within the airline's own network.

🏨Hotel Stays: Many loyalty programs also allow you to redeem points for hotel stays. This can range from budget accommodations to luxury resorts, depending on the number of points you have and the participating hotels.

🚙Car Rentals: Some programs offer the option to redeem points for car rentals, which can be useful for travel or everyday needs.

🛬Upgrades: Rather than booking a flight or hotel stay outright, you might be able to use your points to upgrade to a higher class of service. This could mean upgrading from economy to business class on a flight or from a standard room to a suite in a hotel.

🍕Travel Experiences: Some loyalty programs offer unique travel experiences that can be redeemed using points. This could include things like guided tours, culinary experiences, or access to exclusive events.

🛍Retail Purchases: Many loyalty programs have partnerships with retailers, allowing you to redeem points for merchandise. This could include electronics, clothing, gift cards, and more.

💕Charitable Donations: In some cases, you can use your points to make donations to charitable organizations.

⏎ Transfer to Partners: Many loyalty programs allow you to transfer your points to partner programs, which can often provide more flexibility or better value for certain redemptions.

Before getting your first credit card, there are several important factors to consider:✈️ Research and Compare: Compare the benefits, annual fees, rewards rates, sign-up bonuses, and redemption options of each card to find the one that best suits your spending habits and travel preferences.

✈️ Understand Your Credit Score: Your credit score plays a significant role in determining your eligibility for certain credit cards and the terms you'll be offered. Before applying for a new card, check your credit score and ensure it's in good standing. A higher credit score generally increases your chances of approval and allows you to qualify for better rewards cards with more better perks.

✈️ Consider Your Spending Habits: Evaluate your typical monthly expenses and determine how much you can realistically charge to a credit card without overspending or accruing debt. Choose a card that aligns with your spending habits and offers rewards in categories where you frequently make purchases, such as groceries, dining, or travel.

✈️ Assess Annual Fees: Many rewards credit cards come with annual fees, which can range from modest to substantial amounts. Consider whether the benefits and rewards offered by the card justify the annual fee. In some cases, the perks and rewards can outweigh the fee, but it's important to crunch the numbers and ensure you're getting value from the card.

✈️ Maximise Sign-Up Bonuses: Look for credit cards that offer generous sign-up bonuses, as these can provide a huge boost to your miles or points balance right from the start. But make sure you can meet the minimum spending requirement to qualify for the bonus without overspending or accruing debt.

You've been reading about it everywhere, but how exactly can you benefit from points and miles? ✈️ Free Flights: You can use your accumulated points or miles to book flights with partner airlines or through your credit card's travel portal, covering the cost of airfare entirely or partially.

✈️ Hotel Stays: Many loyalty programs, both airline and hotel, allow you to redeem points for complimentary hotel stays.

✈️ Upgrade to Premium Seats: Instead of using points solely for booking flights, you can also use them to upgrade to premium seats, such as business class or first class.

✈️ Car Rentals: Some loyalty programs offer the option to redeem points or miles for car rentals. This can be particularly useful if you need transportation during your trip or prefer the convenience of having your vehicle at your destination.

✈️ Travel Experiences: Certain loyalty programs provide opportunities to use points or miles for unique travel experiences, such as guided tours, cooking classes, or exclusive access to events and attractions.

✈️ Shopping and Merchandise: Many loyalty programs have online shopping portals where you can redeem points or miles for a variety of merchandise, including electronics, clothing, gift cards, and more.

✈️ Charitable Donations: Some loyalty programs offer the option to donate points or miles to charitable organizations or causes.

How to calculate the value per mile when booking with points! 🛫✅ Find the cash price of the ticket for the same itinerary.
✅ Subtract the taxes and fees you would pay on the award ticket from the cash price of the ticket.
✅ Divide the result by the number of miles required for the ticket.

Here's the formula:
Value per mile = (Cash price of the ticket - Taxes and fees) / Number of miles required

Let's say, for example, the cash price of the Business Class ticket is $6,000. Here's how the math would work out:
Value per mile = ($6,000 - $250) / 235,000 miles
Value per mile = $5,750 / 235,000 miles
Value per mile = $0.0245 or 2.45 cents per mile

If the result is between 0.015 and 0.02 (1.5 to 2 cents per mile), then you are within the good value range. If it's higher, even better. If it's lower, you might want to reconsider unless there are other factors that add value to this redemption for you.

Here are some 𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 🔑 to consider when evaluating whether a flight is a good deal for you. ✈️ What might be a fantastic deal for one traveler could be less appealing to another, depending on individual preferences and points accumulation:⁣⁣⁣⁣𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞: Take a look at how much the same ticket would cost if purchased with cash. Business Class tickets tend to come with a hefty price tag, so if the cash price significantly exceeds the value of the miles you'd be spending, it's likely a worthwhile deal.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭: Business Class offers a wealth of comfort and perks, including lounge access and extra baggage allowance. These amenities can enhance your travel experience and make using points more attractive. However, if you prioritize maximizing your points for multiple economy trips or already have lounge access, it's worth weighing these factors.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Award seats in Business Class can be in high demand and limited availability. If the travel dates and routing align with your plans, it adds value to the deal. Additionally, if the redemption doesn't require an excessive number of points and fits within your comfort level, it's likely a good deal for you.

If you're aiming to elevate your travel experience to business class using points, here's a pro tip: start by scouring t...
13/02/2024

If you're aiming to elevate your travel experience to business class using points, here's a pro tip: start by scouring the airline's website portal for award availability before locking in an economy ticket. This way, you can preview the seating arrangements and class of service to ensure a seamless booking process. If you're unable to spot these options, it could be due to the fare type or the need to utilize advanced search settings tailored for award travel. 🛫Now, about upgrades: opting to purchase an economy ticket and upgrade later can be a savvy move. However, it's wise to put in your upgrade request well ahead of your flight. Upgrades at the airport are often subject to availability, leading to uncertain outcomes. To maximize your chances, consider reaching out to the airline soon after booking your ticket to explore upgrade options using points. Better yet, give them a ring before booking to check if they offer phone bookings with points—a game-changer for smoother travels! ✈️

(Note: Always double-check with your preferred airline for the most accurate information!)
