Fire Powerrrrr!!! Our mini wood stove is installed and heating up the place!!!
We haven’t updated FB in far too long 😓 sorry guys. We’ve been chilling and celebrating life events with family. Updates? Of course. We got this spiffy new super cushy couch, our fireplace is ready to install, and we added some extra insulation to the front windows. I also revamped the fruit hammock to hold more 😍
Victorious! Fruit hammock ✅
This was so rewarding as I cleared off the copious amount of produce sitting on the counter 😅
I’ve found that I’m a much faster and more motivated crocheted when my project serves a purpose.
Now I’m working on a set of wash cloths!!
Eeeek...it’s been a little grip since our last update. Made it to AR. Enjoying some much needed time with friends and family both here and along the way.
Lots of adjustments & small successes...
many projects hiding in the wings 😅
Arkansas has reminded me so much of why I love it outside.
Running water all around,
Lightning bugs,
Fields of dragonflies,
Lonely flowers in vine-draped fencelines along gravelly roads.
It's been a nice shift.
♥️😍 & welcome to the crew to our sweet god daughter, Q! 🌞🌸
Here's a wholesome photo dump:
I don’t think I posted here (only on IG) but...we successfully trekked to the lovely natural state ♥️
Someone is riding comfy 😅
A photo dump from the last couple of days at Pisgah Nat’l Forest.
2 days of blissful roadside camping.
We met some cool people - some campers & vannies.
We had some hot chocolate.
We climbed and splashed and explored.
We caught lightning bugs.
We saw the stars with less lights polluting the view.
And most importantly, we had an amazing time!!
Which pictures are your favorite? I can’t decide which few to post on Instagram..and all 20+ won’t work, lol.
And we’re off!

See you soon, big wide world 🗺🚌✌🏽
Send us your white light, good vibes, prayers, and positivity based in whatever you believe in for safe travels and awesome adventures.♥️
It’s a dreary, rainy day but it’s kinda dreamy to chill out and listen to the rain on the roof! The rain clouds are keeping it nice and cool, so all the windows and skylights can be open 😍🌧
Lofi vibing as usual (ChilledCow ♥️🎶😌)
Time to get some coffee and breakfast going. ✌🏽
Besides...I got some great news this morning, so the day has a little sunny side after all 🌞☺️
We’ll update you guys on that later!

Out for a little drive today after Tyler worked his magic on the power steering system yesterday. We took the old girl grocery shopping!
What magic when mom can get the grocery shopping done WHILE the family comfortably plays the switch 😅 quarantine has never been easier than being able to take your house wherever you go. 😂😂
Happy Juneteenth Jubilation, brothers & sisters. ♥️✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽♥️
Today, we’re talking the talks, learning the history, and finding our freedom!
Freedom is what this journey is all about -
Freedom to move,
Freedom to see,
Freedom to do!
& it all started so long ago.
Everyone in the family is learning new things today...
Like how to add their own artistic touches to the Juneteenth flag 😅
The work isn’t done, but it’s a great day to be free!
Here’s to freedom!
This muscle right here 💪🏾
This muscle right here got us back to the driveway after our power steering went out today during the “shakedown” drive.
It’s finally been NOT raining for a day, so we strapped everything down and tested our road worthiness now that we’ve got a shiny official plate from DOT.
Most things held, but we definitely felt out our improbable areas 😅 so more bungees and a new power steering line/fluid top off...and we’ll give it another go.
Best thing about this adventure is that it teaches you to react under pressure, to work together, and to stay positive! The day threw us a few curveballs, but we managed to stay in the game - and smile about it!
Also...funny side story...the day actually started with our “p*e p*e jug” (read: immature nickname for our urine collection basin) overflowing and resulting in a nice deep clean 😂 ahhh...what a day!
I’m mad in love with my kitchen 😍😍😍
Are there still projects to finish? Yes.
But being able to functionally complete regular tasks like cooking lunch is a huge victory - and it feels good ☺️
Ahh...summer memories 😌😌😌
Red ✅
Black trim re-paint & window trip is tomorrow’s job
Whew 😅
It was quite the chore doing all this by hand with brushes 🖌
Hopefully the trim will be a little less of a job 😉 lol
New Color. Who dis?
♥️♥️♥️
I’ve been working on some upcycled curtains from bed sheets. They aren’t all finished just yet, but I was antsy to see what they looked like in place
☺️☺️☺️
It’s still a little cluttered, but it’s getting there!
♥️♥️♥️
Oh my...has it been a week since we’ve updated you guys?
Geez Louise. Sorry, but...there’s kind of been a LOT going on in the world. We’ve honestly spent a lot of time lately in a less than stellar mood.
Truth be told, updates may be slim for the coming weeks simply because I have to remove myself from Facebook specifically at the moment.
It’s a great time to follow our Instagram, though
(📷 )
Here’s a little dump, though.
Did I post some of this? I’m really not sure.
We have our plumbing completed. ✅
Electric is completed. ✅
Some little accents ☺️
And we’re almost ready to paint the exterior! ♥️
We’ve got 💡lights💡 & we officially spent a night in the bus!!
It was marvelous! Here’s to finishing more! Our power and water setups are complete, so we’ve just got to finish wiring a few lights and get some curtains up! Lol, send us good luck for finding enough of the same kind of fabric somewhere online 😂😂😂
This. Came out exactly as I’d hoped! It’s still a bit of a work in progress, but the extra heat coming in from the sun is at bay 😍
🔐 deadbolts babyyyyyy! Our entrances can officially lock from inside and outside! ♥️
Almost power ready!! The last few days have been spent installing & securing the hitched carrier for Benny the Genny!
What a difference a month makes 😅😅 safe to say we’ve been hard at work. It looks a lot like a demolition pit - but we promise it’s more of a construction site!
Well...we DID get a lot of work done today. We finished a shelf in little bird’s room, braced in the shower basin, added stop-walls to the kitchen cabinet shelves & acquired a grey water tank.
But what I’m most excited about:
(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ STICKERS ♥
We have long been sticker collectors. We have probably 50 stickers (that, of course - if you collect, you know) are NOT stuck to anything!
But these - are removable and re-stickable!!! YASSS! So, now, I’m all pumped to stick them somewhere. Anywhere. Planner? Window? Mirror? MacBook? So many options.
Annnnndddd...if you want to support the build, you too can be the proud owner of these stickers. Message us for more info ♥️🚌✌🏽
Plumbing ✅
Cabinet shelf ✅
Momentary gaze out of these awesome skylights in a spring rain shower ✅✅✅
We’re at the point where we have a ton of small projects...and to be honest...they are kicking our butts. But we are persevering - chugging away at them a little at a time.
There is so much on the to-do list even though we keep telling ourselves it’s “mostly finished.” Those small touches that make it home.
We’ll get there.
Thank you guys for your encouragement & support
♥️🚌✌🏽
We’ve got running water to the sink!!! & to the shower..that isn’t completely installed yet 😅 but you get the idea
💧We’re water hook-up worthy!💧
Also, bunk boards are water sealed to help inhibit mold and extra moisture causing problems.
I’m so happy with the way this stain & seal dried! It’s so gratifying when something matches what you think it will based on what you see online 😅
unpictured progress:
completed walls & bunks ready to screw after plumbing is run
Shower drain hole cut
Almost enclosed toilet box
Lots of work ahead, and lots of material to work with! She’ll be done soon ♥️
Posts have been minimal the last couple of days...because we’ve been working working working!!! Lots of movement, lots of progress, lots of laughs! Christmas came today...but Santa was kinda slim & had a UPS truck 😅 we’ll share more of what we got and what’s in store tomorrow ♥️♥️♥️
(*in a great Woody voice 🤠*) THERE’S SOME BEDS IN THAT BUS!! ♥️♥️♥️ beds are framed and awaiting bunk boards and walls! Our first night sleeping on the bus is getting closeeeee!

Issa shower, y’all!! So much has been accomplished this week. We’ve been working working working. Beds are framed ✅. Bathroom is mostly framed and walled ✅, front of the bus is framed ✅ and we’ve got the hardware to add the cabinet doors once I finish painting them. A few more woodworking touches and then it’s on to...the nitty gritty stuff like plumbing and wiring this big girl (the bus 🚌, not me😅 lol)
Today is a “no bus-fuss” day, so we extended our daily walk to do some dandelion harvesting for dandelion honey 🍯♥️ I’ve really wanted to try this for some time, and really glad we’re finally getting around to it.
Woot woot!! A nice wet rainy day and a wonderful water tank! Moving on up! Shout out to the wonderful FedEx workers who are keeping things going on the delivery front. ♥️🚌✌🏽
#Quarantainment I guess I’d rather be painting than watching paint dry. Either way, I’m trying to stay busy. I’ve picked up a few other painting projects throughout the building time, but the solid sealant for the walls is the most therapeutic one because...there’s no pressure. Paint any direction, any pressure, anywhere!! What is everyone doing with their quarantine time?
We’ve waited for DAYSSSSSSS to be able to walk on a fully cured epoxy floor - and at last, the time has arrived! I don’t know if you can tell from my....whatever that is...but I was REEALLLLLLLLLY excited about this 😍😍❤️❤️
Today...was long. T finally got the floor prepped for the epoxy after some setbacks and a long walk. I finished a side project that won’t meet its other parts for a couple of week. BUT the work was all worth THIS dance break. This is the coolest kid I know 😎😎😎 ♥️✌🏽Kels #redbirdbus #skoolieconversion #skooliebuild #blackboyjoy #quarantinedancebreak
♥️Why “The Red Bird Bus”??!!♥️ It’s never really easy to “pick” a name for something - even harder when that something is a labor of love, something for which you haven’t even completely imagined the final product...and still you must. You can’t just say “it.” Where is the love in that? We had a million ideas for what we’d call our dream 2.0...but, we never really had a say, did we? This handsome guy has been hanging out a LOT, and while I know he’s probably really impressed with himself in the mirror (or he’s so damn awesome that he even intimidated himself, hence the peck peck peckin’), I hoped there was more to it. He’s also got a lovely lady friend who doesn’t actually come perch on the bus, but she’s never far away. I’m always looking to learn more about the connections between the spiritual realm and the natural world, & I needed a better answer. I wanted a better answer. So I looked into cardinals and folklore. Turns out, a cardinal can be a great omen of luck and fortune. It also happens, in many cultures, the red bird is believed to teeter the fine line of planes and can signify a loved one visiting you. I lost both of my parents as a teenager - both due to sudden accidents, and both with practically no closure. And I did okay with it, all things being considered. But as I meander around the winding road of adulthood, not having that connection, that lifeline, that comfort, has been more and more apparent. Honestly, the last year & a half, I’ve both felt and missed their presence so intensely at some moments. All this to say, I knew something was special about our birdy buddies, & for whatever reason they are hanging around, good luck or something deeper, I consider them some of our avid supporters at this point. And so, they shall be honored by namesake ♥️♥️♥️ Happy travels, let the adventure begin! ❤️🚌✌🏽
