There is no doubt that Yokahu Tower is one of the top two or three spots in all of El Yunque National Forest. Yokahu Tower is one of two observation towers that you can climb to the top for outstanding views.
Yokahu Tower is the more consistent of the two towers when it comes to weather. The other tower is Mount Britton Tower, which is located at a much higher elevation and usually has cloud cover that interferes with the views. The other major benefit to Yokahu Tower is the ease of access. The tower is maybe thirty feet away from the parking lot with no elevation change until you start to climb the tower. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Mt. Britton Tower requires a good amount of exertion to hike a trail which ascends rapidly through the forest before reaching the tower. Yokaju was the spirit of fertility in Taíno mythology.

Yesterday was international cave day but this year especially is first time it is during the , launched by the International Union of Speleology (UIS) and is recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as an important public awareness campaign about the importance of the protection and conservation of these fragile non-renewable resources. Caves are important natural resources because of their unique beauty, their history, and their role in a healthy environment. They play key roles in groundwater movement, serve as habitat for threatened and endangered animal species, and often yield the bones of prehistoric animals as well as the artifacts of prehistoric man. They provide outstanding opportunities for studying and gaining a better understanding of the geology landscape, and the relationships between the environment we see at the surface and the one that is hidden underground.

View of the Rio grande of Arecibo, River that the Taino Indians called Abacoa, today the Grande de Arecibo River, there was a settlement of 200 indigenous people who were ruled by the chief Arasibo. This territory bathed by the Rio Grande de Arecibo and the Rio Tanamá was granted, by order of the Spanish crown, to Lope de Conchillos in 1515, who in turn sent Don Pedro Moreno to the island with the task of dealing with the cacique and his Indians and administer his assets. Apparently, Don Pedro Moreno sent the Indians to carry out public works in the Isleta de San Juan and almost all of them died in a short time, thus leaving the banks of the Abacoa river depopulated.

Today, water is under extreme threat from a growing population, increasing demands of agriculture and industry, and the worsening impacts of climate change.
As societies balance the demands on water resources, many people’s interests are not being taken into account.
This year´s theme World Water Day is about what water means to people, it's true value and how we can better protect this vital resource. The value of water is about much more than its price – water has enormous and complex value for our households, culture, health, education, economics and the integrity of our natural environment. If we overlook any of these values, we risk mismanaging this finite, irreplaceable resource.
Support catalysing conversations about water, by using these social media assets and engaging in digital discussions through and . https://www.un.org/en/observances/water-day

Today is a day to raise awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and the planet.🌎 Wetlands are a critical part of our natural environment. They protect our shores from wave action, reduce the impacts of floods, absorb pollutants and improve water quality. They provide habitat for animals and plants and many contain a wide diversity of life, supporting plants and animals that are found nowhere else.
