The Sanctuary of the Corona is a place of silence and meditation, suspended between heaven and earth, hidden in the heart of the Baldo rocks.

Numerous sculptural works in the Sanctuary, of which a good part, made of white Carrara marble, are by the Veronese sculptor Ugo Zannoni.

Both in the Sanctuary and along the access road you can admire the bronze castings by the Veronese architect Raffaele Bonente. Particularly original is the "scenography" on the rocky wall of the apse, around the statue of the Pietà, surrounded by a crown of thorns and five angelic groups

Along the right wall of the Sanctuary there is a real historical and artistic heritage represented by the ex votos: 167 tablets of different sizes, the oldest of which dates back to 1547 and represents the miraculous rescue of a woman who is about to drown in the Adige in Verona.
From a historical point of view, the most interesting ex voto is the large canvas donated by the Bardolino community in 1665, in thanksgiving for the grace of the rain, while the most precious is an oil on canvas depicting Christ at the Column, executed in 1724 by the Veronese painter. Antonio Balestra (1666-1740).

Adrien Wettach, born in Reconvilier, (Switzerland), on January 10, 1880, consecrated "King of clowns" at the Olympia in Paris in 1919, was a real international star from the beginning of the twentieth century until his farewell to the stage in 1954. Extraordinary artist: juggler, equilibrist, acrobat, able to play a large number of musical instruments, he bewitched audiences all over the world by transforming his well-rounded stage name into an authentic legend.

He met Imperia (Italy) by chance, visiting his in-laws on vacation in 1920, and was so impressed that he bought a house with land, initially intended for holidays. It was in that place that the villa was built which still today dominates the hill of Oneglia and which became the clown's permanent residence until 1959. It was in that year that Grock died, here where the house and the garden stand proudly to bear witness to the sign of their eclectic owner, still strongly transmitting their melancholy, famous smile.

Happy Women's Day! 🌹❤️

To celebrate this day today we take you to Montessori Home Museum (Casa Museo), Chiaravalle, Marche, Italy.

Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori was an Italian educator, pedagogist, philosopher, doctor, child neuropsychiatrist and scientist, internationally known for the educational method that takes her name, adopted in thousands of kindergartens, elementary, middle and high schools in Worldwide. She was among the first women to graduate in medicine in Italy.

Casa Montessori Chiaravalle is the birthplace that welcomes the story of the many real and symbolic houses that welcomed and greeted Maria Montessori: steamers, schools, residences, parliaments, universities.

Her home remains as a space of public intimacy, amid the citations of ancient partitions that welcomed his step, personal objects as fragile and poetic signs of his passage, the spectacle of education through the objects and principles laid down at the foundation of her Method, and the maps of her existence - an intertwining of meaning, histories and geographies.

Tiberina Island is an island in the center of Rome.

Legend has it that the island was formed in 510 BC.

It housed the temple of Aesculapius, god of medicine.

The Fabricio and Cestio bridges, and the Vicus Censorius give the island the shape of a ship.

The Cathedral of Orvieto, one of the greatest artistic achievements of the Italian late Middle Ages, is a unicum that escapes any simplistic classification of style. Inside it is possible to admire the beauty of the chapel of San Brizio, or the Nova chapel, completed by Luca Signorelli.

Symbol of the city of Orvieto itself, the Duomo is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Italy and in the world.

The Cathedral looks like a magnificent construction that brings together different architectural styles, in particular the Gothic and Romanesque ones.

Much of the majesty of the cathedral is in its facade rich in details and symbols, from the rose window to the mosaics, from the doors to the bas-reliefs.

The male Orthodox monastery of Saints Elia and Filareo is one of the most interesting Orthodox monasteries in Southern Italy, which even attracted the attention of Leo VI, Emperor of Byzantium, has finally come to us after major restorations in October 2005.

If you are ready to immerse yourself in a piece of history that seemed forgotten, you can only stop here, about 2 km from Seminara. The Monastery is welcomed in the old Valle delle Saline (Piana di Gioia Tauro), with the olive trees that form the background for a perfect reconstruction. The Igumena Mother Stefania holds the precious treasures of the internal frescoes - traditional Orthodox - present in Katolikòn, rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693 together with the Church.

Lent begins today, a period that precedes the celebration of Easter.

There are several Easter-related paintings and sculptures, but one of the most famous is Michelangelo's Pietà, a sculpture located in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

Michelangelo was not the only one to represent this scene, but in his sculpture for the first time mother and son come together as one thing.

The sculpture is 174 centimeters high and has a pyramidal shape, an expression of the total union of Christ and Mary in the destiny of sacrifice and salvation to which they were called.

Today we take you to the basilica of Santa Sofia in Rome😍

The whole interior of the church is covered with mosaics.
The most important is the mosaic of Divine Wisdom and the Holy Eucharist. Above the celebrant's chair is the coat of arms of Cardinal Josyp Slipyj with the motto per aspera ad astra (through the difficulties to the stars).

To the right of the apse there is the sacristy and to the left a mosaic icon with the entrance to the crypt.

20/02/2022

Hidden at the foot of the Aspromonte (Italy), the MuSaBa di Mammola is a park museum laboratory of contemporary art that develops around the remains of an ancient 10th-century monastic complex. An unprecedented mix of ancient and modern that draws the visitor into an immersive and at times surreal experience, which really deserves to be lived.

Nick Spatari and Hiske Maas. This is the name of the two artists who at the end of the 1960s, after getting married and having experienced prestigious collaborations with world-famous contemporary artists, decide to give new life to an abandoned place in the heart of Locride, making it a place of artistic experimentation, where to transmit and share new frontiers of technique, material, shape and color.

With the coverage of hyper-colored mosaics, up to the Cloister, with its thousand square meters of external walls that serve as a support for a constantly evolving mosaic laboratory. A creative site that welcomes works by international artists, but also by students, bohemians and volunteers who contribute to enriching it continuously. At the center, the creations of the exuberant and eclectic genius of Nik: monumental works, site-specific installations, mosaic decorations, in which symbols of the Christian tradition intertwine, from the Old to the New Testament and stylistic features of the Sumerian past, from Gilgamesh to the Universal Flood , all filtered in a dreamlike, psychedelic and nonconformist way.

A gigantic three-dimensional painting 14 meters long, which covers the entire space of the vault and apse of the ancient abbey of Santa Barbara, represents the Dream of Jacob and is the result of the "creative, restless and heretical" spirit of Nik Spatari, straddling 1991 and 1995. The technique used to make it is an invention of Spatari himself: the silhouettes are cut out of sheets of light wood, painted and then applied as reliefs suspended in the air.

The "physical" symbol of the city is its lighthouse, known as the Lantern.

Here are just a few of its many places of interest:
Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata del Vastato, Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Carignano, the Lantern, Galata - Museum of the sea, Museum of the treasure of the cathedral of San Lorenzo, Museum of world cultures, Carlo Felice Theater, .....
