For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a Disney-obsessed gal; needless to say, becoming a Travel Advisor that specializes in Disney vacations is like a dream come true! I live in Gilbertsville, PA with my husband, our two daughters, and our crazy but sweet Labradoodle. I was born and raised in Connecticut and am still a New Englander at heart. When I’m not busy planning vacations, you’ll likely

find me at the dance studio where both of my girls spend MANY hours each week (and sometimes I even take a class too — tap is my favorite!) — I’m definitely living the Dance Mom life. In 2005, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Tourism Management from UMass Amherst. I then spent 5 years living in the DC area and worked in various areas of hotels, including the front desk, sales and special events. I moved to Pennsylvania in 2010 and continued working in hotel sales until the birth of my first child in 2012. Not only have I traveled to the Walt Disney World Resort countless times, but I’m also a former Cast Member (RIP Spoodles at Disney’s BoardWalk). I have been the “Disney Expert” for my friends and family for years and always love helping them plan their magical Disney vacation. Beyond Disney Destinations, my family loves cruising, Universal Orlando Resort and all-inclusive vacations to the Caribbean — Aruba is my favorite island to date! I’ve planned my fair share of vacations to Universal Orlando Resort. Whether it’s a full vacation to Universal or a split stay between Universal and Disney – the one thing I always hear from my clients is that they wished they planned for more time to relax at the pool!

So how long do I suggest for a vacation to Universal Orlando? That will depend on what you're looking to accomplish. If you want to hit every nook and cranny of both theme parks, you can probably cram it into 2 solid days but if you're hoping to not be at the parks from open to close, I suggest 3 parks days. Want to hit the water park too? Give yourself a day at Volcano Bay too. A 3-Park, 4- or 5-Day Park-to-Park Ticket is going to ensure that you have time to hit everything at all of the parks without feeling rushed. And this can easily give you a day (or at least afternoon time) to relax at your amazing resort pool.

And don't forget -- you can pool hop when you stay at any of the Universal Orlando Resort hotels (with the exception of Endless Summer -- Surfside Inn and Dockside Inn). If you're doing a split stay with Disney, I do suggest a 2-Day, 2-Park, Park-to-Park ticket -- but I'd stay an extra night to have a day to enjoy the pool if you can!!

If you've been dreaming of a family vacation to Beaches but aren't sure which one to pick, let me help point out a few differences for you that may help you make your decision. There are currently 3 Beaches Resorts -- Beaches Negril and Ocho Rios are both located in Jamaica, and then Beaches Turks and Caicos.

Let's start in Jamaica. Both resorts are located about 80 minutes from MBJ (just in opposite directions). If you're looking for the best beach, you may want to opt for Negril as it's located on the iconic "Seven Mile Beach". However, Ocho Rios has its own private cove beach! Negril is slightly smaller than Ocho Rios, though Negril also has a couple more dining options available at the resort. If you want to waterski, definitely go for Negril as it's not offered in Ocho Rios. Want to be spoiled with butler service? Negril offers butler service, Ocho Rios does not. Both Beaches Resorts include your greens fees at its nearby golf course -- but if you have a young golfer looking to experience all that the sport has to offer, Ocho Rios is going to be the resort for you as they offer a Junior Golf Club with private instruction (for an additional fee) and clinics -- just note that transfer fees are not included.

While golf isn't included at Beaches Turks and Caicos, there is a golf course nearby that you could golf at. Turks and Caicos is going to be the largest of all three resorts and is located only 20 minutes from the airport. Its water park is the largest, you'll have more dining options in Turks than both Negril and Ocho Rios offer COMBINED. Turks has the most pools, the most room types to accomodate up to 14 people in one suite, and butlers suites are available too. And while Turks does offer the longest beach of the three Beaches Resorts, waterskiing is not available.

Traveling with food allergies is SO hard. If you've never had to deal with them, you have no idea how tricky they can make life when you travel -- especially if your allergies can cause an anaphylactic reaction. And from my experience, nobody handles food allergies quite like Disney -- especially at Walt Disney World.

When we book your dining reservations, we will be able to note that someone in your party has a food allergy as well as what the allergy is so that the restaurant will be prepared for you when you arrive.

Once seated, a chef will be able to come talk to you at the table to discuss your allergies. They'll guide you through which items on the menu will be safe for you, and they'll even make you something entirely different if that is the best way to ensure your safety while dining.

Each restaurant (as well as quick service dining options) is equipped with a binder that consists of all the ingredients as well as potential of cross contamination for every item they have in their kitchen for the chef to refer to with you so you can see what they're offering you first hand.

In most cases (especially if a special meal is being made for you), the chef will hand deliver your meal to the table as well to ensure they've gone above and beyond to make you feel comfortable in knowing your meal was prepared carefully with your allergies in mind.
