Lucky Bay, Cape Le Grand 💦

What a piece of paradise! 😍 These gorgeous blue waters are found just outside of Esperance in Western Australia.

Cape Le Grand is a wonderful national park that stretches along the coast. Lucky Bay is one of the most well known beaches here because of the resident roos 🦘 but there are many beautiful beaches found throughout the park! There is a small campground here, but book far in advanced! It’s a popular spot! (For obvious reasons!) 🥰

Gantheaume Point, Broome 🧡

If you are looking for some outer worldly landscapes, head to this red dirt paradise on the West Coast of Australia. Broome is a small city along the north western coast giving you these striking views.

Gantheaume Point is a significant cultural location for the native peoples and also, a spot you can see dinosaur footprints! 😍

SPRING IN SYDNEY 🌸 Where to go and what to see!

1. Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair - This is the perfect place to get iconic harbour views with the beautiful Jacaranda blooms! 😍

2. The Royal Botanical Gardens - This massive free garden also overlooks the harbour and not only includes the beautiful jacarandas, but plenty of other flowers!

3. Lavender Bay - This walk along the North side of the harbour has some of the most picturesque views in all of Sydney. Stop in Wendy’s Secret Garden to see another amazing floral display!

4. Kirribilli - This tiny neighborhood just north of the harbour bridge is the BEST place to see the jacarandas. The streets here have full canopies of the famous purple blooms. Just watch out for cars!

5. North Head Reserve - Spring is the perfect time to explore one of the many national parks in Sydney and North Head has some of the best views of the city skyline.

6. Opera Bar - Looking for a place to relax and enjoy a drink? There is nothing better than taking in the full experience of Sydney Harbour and having a drink at the iconic Opera Bar!

7. Sunrises on the beach - You could literally pick any Eastern-facing beach, just make sure you do like the Sydneysiders and wake up at the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise 😍

5 More Culture Shocks When Moving to Australia (Road Trip Edition) 🚐💨

1. Road tripping, in general, is very common in Australia; so there are lots of caravan parks, free camping sites, and van-friendly roads to take you around the whole of Australia. While there are plenty of retirees who have taken to the road, Australia’s roads are much more diverse with locals “doing a lap”, internationals traveling while working, and young families that just throw the kids in the caravan and get away for the weekend. (I do NOT blame them! 😂😍)

2. Australia is a BIG COUNTRY! 👀
Even if you already know this, it will really sink in hard when you’re seven-hours into a ten-hour stretch where there is literally nothing but dirt and roadhouses around. If you’re an impatient person, this ain’t for you.

3. Speaking of roadhouses.. all gas stations in Australia are called petrol stations. (John literally still makes fun of me every time I say gas 😂) BUT on the road, they are often called roadhouses. It’s kinda exactly what you would imagine a truck stop in the middle of the outback to be. Very questionable food, cold drinks, and the most bizarre and eclectic selection of souvenirs I have EVER seen 😳

4. The only other vehicles you’ll see on the road are other caravans or the absolute weirdest thing I have ever seen; the road train. 😨 This thing is a semi on steroids. Used to transport large quantities from Australia’s mines to the coast, these mega machines usually are three to five cars long. Trying to pass them on long stretches of outback road can be downright scary, I don’t care who you are. 🥲

5. While Australia is an absolutely beautiful land, the majority of your travels will be in very rural, small communities. I grew up in a very small town in America… but it’s nothing compared to these places. You would be lucky to find a petrol station, grocery store, and maybe one cafe. Cell reception and WiFi are nonexistent. You really have to rely on paper maps, a locals recommendation, and a sense of adventure to truly survive and thrive during a road trip through Australia! ⚠️🦘Worth it!

Y’ALL! 😍

Really starting to get into wedding planning and it is making me so giddy! Still have no idea how the hell we are gonna have an international wedding amidst a pandemic! 😅 BUT with so many talks of opening borders here in Australia, I can’t help but have hope! 🤞🏼I have started researching venues, picking colors, looking at dresses and I am still just kinda in disbelief I get to marry this amazing guy! 🥰

I think this wedding will be worth the wait 🥳

Any advice for a bride to be?

5 Culture Shocks when moving to Australia 🇦🇺 🤪

- Drive on the left, walk on the left. There are even little arrows on the ground to remind you. ⬅️

- Need to go on a grocery run? Head to the local “shops” which is likely a shopping mall with clothing stores, a butcher, cafe, and restaurants.. oh and don’t forget the “bottle-o” which is the liquor store. 🍾

- There is a ground floor here. So when you enter a building, you are on the ground floor. If you want to go up a level, you would be on the first floor. 🛗

- Sugar is unfortunately not as loved as in America! You won’t find a million different sugary cereals in the store, and kids just generally are not aloud copious amounts of sugar. 🍭

- Gambling is not only legal, but a very common past time. Almost every single pub has “the pokies” which is a separated section filled with electronic slot machines. 🤑

There has definitely been a learning curve coming to a new country! 😁
Should I share more!?

From where I’d rather be… 💦

Wow! What a sharp turn of events over these past few months here in Australia. It’s kinda crazy to think not that long ago we were exploring up and down the West coast, swimming with turtles, hiking through gorges, and soaking up the sun! Now we are back in c*vid lockdowns here in Sydney and the struggle is real! 😩

I feel like we were very fortunate to not have had an overwhelming wave of c*vid last year, but as we battle a new strain, it has left me felling very frustrated and concerned what our future holds. 🥺

Staying off social media has actually helped a lot because there is nothing worse than the FOMO associated with seeing the rest of the world getting on with life. I feel like we are in a Groundhog Day situation living the same day over and over again. Instead of looming on the despair, I have tried to take this time to be productive, work on new projects, and focus more on my physical and mental health. There is nothing better during a pandemic than to be the healthiest version of yourself! ❤️

I know a lot of us have taken lockdowns harder than usual and for the rest of you around the world, I know you guys have had it so much worse than we have! How are you handling things? Rose-colored glasses or over this fu***ng s**t?! 😅

DALES GORGE ☀️

During our visit to Karijini National Park, we explored up and down Dale’s Gorge and I was just blown away! Definitely don’t see anything like this in Florida 😅

Out of all of our adventures throughout the country, this spot felt the most “Australian” to me. Idk if it’s the red dirt, the dingo footprints, or the spirit of the ancient humans and creatures that used to roam these lands. But wow! Just so surreal and magical! 😍

KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK 💙

Leaving the coast, we finally headed inland to one of the BEST stops on our trip! Karijini National Park had some of the most breathtaking scenery we saw! Those red, rocky cliffs and bright blue skies just made for the most scenic views. 😍

This was Fortescue Falls which can be found in Dale’s Gorge. We camped right next door at Dale’s Campground and heard the dingos howling at the full moon all night! Definitely one of the most memorable stops on our whole trip! 🌙✨

YARDIE CREEK ☀️

Another must-see in Cape Range National Park is Yardie Creek. This is a permanent water source in an otherwise pretty dry area! There is a sandbank that forms at the mouth of the river where you can drive 4X4 vehicles across and explore even more remote parts of the park!

There is also a nature walk that follows along the gorge to take in amazing views like this! You can also explore by boat and kayaking tours! 💦

Make sure to look out for the very elusive rock wallabies that hide amongst the red cliffs! 😍

↗️ Save this one for later!

EXMOUTH 💦

Our next stop along was Exmouth. This was one of the larger towns we visited and there were a lot more options in terms of dining and accommodations. On our first day we visited the visitor center and learned all about the interesting history of the area!

Exmouth use to be home to a US military base back in WW2 and there is a very large (bizarre) communication station there with these huge towers out in the middle of the desert. Definitely felt like something out of a sci-fi film! 😅 American culture was actually a big part of the town’s beginning and the locals used to play baseball and celebrate Thanksgiving with the American immigrants. 🇺🇸

But the true magic here still lies along the coast. Ningaloo Reef stretches along the peninsula and although it is a little bit of a drive out of town, this landscape was unbelievable. Truly encapsulated the saying “where the outback meets the reef” 😍

CORAL BAY 💦

Our next stop along was Coral Bay. This tiny town is the gateway to an absolute treasure trove of underwater wonder. 🐠💦

Ningaloo Reef is one of the largest fringing reefs in the world. Much of the reef is just steps from the beach making it super easy to explore! We snorkeled for hours a day and only saw a tiny slice of this heaven! 😍

The first photo in this series is one of my absolute favorites of our whole trip! Just look how clear that water is! 😍 This is paradise to me!

FRANCOIS PERON NATIONAL PARK ☀️

Our next stop along were the remarkable red cliffs of Francois Peron National Park. Found in the Shark Bay peninsula, this massive national park is full of 4WD tracks and places to explore.

We were staying at the and actually rented kayaks to venture along the coast. We saw a few sea turtles hanging out in the water but honestly just spent the entire day sleepin’ on the beach. 😎
