A storm rolling in won't stop me sharing about some essential canoe guide tools!
Often overlooked, but when you work professionally, even the most mundane equipment is essential. Here's one piece to not take for granted!
FOLLOW for PART II. | A story from when I was younger and less experienced 😆
Exactly! Those were the kinds of saws I used for years... safe, but hard to set up and confusing for guests. This is 💯X better. (If you don't know what we're talking about, go back and find the "My Favourite Saw" video 😉)

Please don’t do this to our beautiful birch trees! BUT, if you’ve found your birch bark from fallen trees, you can make all kinds of unique nature crafts.
What have you made from birch bark? I’d love to hear in the comments.
My favourite saw, made by Agawa Canyon. After years of using other collapsible camping saws, which were difficult to set up, confusing, and prone to lost parts, I was thrilled to discover the Boreal21. This 21” saw is quick to set up, durable, and easy to slip into an equipment pack.
The Sheet Bend is easy and helpful for tons of applications—not just in the wilderness! Worth taking a minute to learn. {Knots Ep. 1}
Here’s a quick woodcraft tip for clotheslines in the wilderness. Another clothesline tip: make sure they’re always high enough that you don’t catch your hat on them in the dark… you can thank me later :)
Special memories
These are special memories. There’s nothing quite like being on the water in the wilderness for family bonding. Wilderness trips forge close bonds and strong kids. And kids love tripping, even from a very young age.
Have you been on the water with your family? Let me know your favourite stories!👇🏻
We like paddling through narrow places and down swifts. Sometimes so narrow we don’t quite make it, but this spot was beautiful, winding, and posed no danger of getting stuck… at least, not just yet!
Welcome to the journey! I’m excited to have you along as I share tips, tricks (not ticks! 😄), and the love of the outdoors.
