Strung out along the shoreline of Lago Nahuel Huapi, in the middle of the national park of the same name, Bariloche (formally San Carlos de Bariloche) has one of the most gorgeous settings imaginable. This, combined with a wealth of summer and winter activities in the surrounding countryside, as well the production of Argentina's best chocolate, has helped it become the Lake District’s principal destination.

The soaring peaks of Cerros Catedral, López, Nireco and Shaihuenque (to name just a few) – all well over 2000m high – ring the town, giving picture-postcard views in nearly every direction.
These mountains aren’t just for gazing, though – excellent snow coverage (sometimes exceeding 2m at the end of the season) makes this a winter wonderland, and a magnet for skiers and snowboarders.

In summertime the nature buffs take over, hitting the hills to climb, hike trails, fish for trout and ride mountain bikes and horses.

Evert year the Perito Moreno Glacier generate expectations in the world relative to its breakup. Some data on its characteristics will help us understand this phenomenon. Los glaciares National Park was created in 1937 for the preservation of the glaciers and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO to preserve its flora and fauna in danger of extinction.

Glaciers play an important role in our day, occupy 10% of land surface and account for 90% of the world's freshwater. And with the air and water flow that create, contribute to balance the Earth's climate, which without them would be suffocating.
There are many myths and comments on the Perito Moreno glacier and its behavior that every year surprise and invites tourists from around the world. But to begin to understand, the important thing to know about the glacier is that is not only a mass of ice, but above all, a mass of moving ice. And as every body in motion, the ice is influenced by gravity. Because of this similarity with water the glaciers are compare to rivers which, if it is not entirely false, in light of recent studies also doesnt' seem to be quite true.

The new Kachi Lodge, is located at the foot of Tunupa volcano at an altitude of 11,800 feet. The lodge, which looks a bit like a space station, is design to offer views of the salt flats as well as the star-filled night sky.
The lodge is comprised of six luxury bedrooms pods that feature private bathrooms, as well a large lounge dome. They are all sat up on wooden decks above the surface of the salt flats. Inside the lounge, guests can relax and sample some authentic cuisine from an on-site chef.
Visitors can fill their days with the help of activity guides, as spend their days downhill mountain biking on the edge of the Tunupa Volcano, trekking to the volcano’s crater, hiking to the peak of Kachi Island for incredible views, and more. In the rainy season, guests are able to paddleboard over the Salar and enjoy its mirror-like appearance. They can also get a glimpse of the local culture in the village of Jijira, or see the archaeological site of Alcaya. If you are there to see the stars, the lodge not only has telescopes but also guides that can provide “insight into Andean cosmology and ancient cultural beliefs about the night sky.”

The dream self-drive trip can be to El Chalten in the Argentine Patagonia. This colourful landscape overlooks the stunning northern sector of Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. El Chalten is still a frontier town, albeit an offbeat one, featuring constant construction, hippie values and packs of roaming dogs.
On January 12, 2015, El Chalten was declared National Capital of trekking. In this way it is officially recognised adding value to the extraordinary combination of elements that are given for mountain sports: a pristine and protected natural environment, numerous trekking circuits with varying grades of difficulty, dozen of climbing routes of very high technical requirements, and a town where social and economic developments grow in relation to the active tourism.
The town is in an ecoregion called ecotone, the transition between the steppe and forest. The plain abruptly leads to huge rock formation with forested valleys crossed by rivers and streams. The seasons are well defined during the year, summer is mild with average temperatures of 12 C degrees, days with many hours of sunlight, usually windy and moderate rainfalls. The winter is cold, with an average temperatures of 2 C degrees, short days, little wind and sporadic snowfalls.

Being immersed in unspoiled nature open up all your senses. Walk along trials through magical forest and in each viewpoint stop to contemplate mountains and glaciers that you will never forget. Your body recharges with energy and pure mountain air.

Located in the Peruvian Andes in Cusco just 3 hours away from the historical center, Rainbow Mountain is becoming the main attraction to see after or before Machu Picchu. As you could guess, the mountain is famed for its natural, multi-colored beauty at a staggering 5,200m above sea level. This rainbow-like appearance is created by the sediment of minerals throughout the area giving the mountain the turquoise, lavendar, gold and other colors.

It was only recently discovered due to the snow melting revealing the hidden gem that’s still considered holy by many until this day. Since its discovery, Rainbow Mountain as slowly started gaining popularity and has even been listed in National Geographic’s “Top 100 Places To Visit Before You Die”.

It’s one of those places where the whole journey is as amazing as the destination. Llamas, horses, and alpacas are dispersed all over the range, with local communities still living almost the same life as before but now also helping visitors discover the colored mountain. The scenery along the trek is just like the pictures and even they don’t do it justice sometimes. Add to this the geological and local history and it’s no wonder why it’s gaining popularity!

One of the most isolated natural treasures of the world, the Marble Caves (Capillas de Mármol) are a series of sculpted caves in the General Carrera Lake in the heart of Patagonia. The Cathedral, the Chapel and the Cave are the three formations that make up this natural spectacle that will certainly leave you breathless.
Once on site, there are a few caves you can enter or get closer to. The local guides know exactly where to go and will give you the directive or will take the lead. The highlights are the beautiful rock formations named “the Chapel” and the “Cathedral”. These are brilliant places to take pictures and witness the gorgeous myriad of colours dropping into the General Carrera lake.
Keep your eyes wide open to admire the black and white columns reflected on the blue waters. A true dream for photography lovers.

Whales, penguins and many other native Patagonian species are waiting for you in the North Valdés Peninsula. Ready to discover its rich and varied wildlife?
Península Valdés in Patagonia is a site of global significance for the conservation of marine mammals. It is home to an important breeding population of the endangered southern right whale as well as important breeding populations of southern elephant seals and southern sea lions. The orcas in this area have developed a unique hunting strategy to adapt to local coastal conditions.
Connected to the mainland only through a narrow strip of land, the mushroom-shaped peninsula and its shore are almost insular in nature. Its calm gulfs, sheltered from the rough South Atlantic, are key breeding, calving and nursing areas of the Southern Right Whale and many other marine mammals, such as Southern Elephant Seal, Southern Sea Lion and Orca.
There are important breeding colonies of shorebirds and tens of thousands of nesting Magellanic Penguin.

We invite you discover a hidden side of Ushuaia... The Vinciguerra Glacier, which will take you off the beaten touristic roads, to an area of a great appeal.
You can visit and hike the Andorran Valley, the place where many neighbours settled and formed one of the spontaneous urbanisation characteristic of Ushuaia.
The hike starts along a river of thaw that crosses the turbal that covers the valley. The Vinciguerra glacier used to break into and release icebergs.
Although today the glacier receded some tens of meters from the lagoon, is even more interesting because of the caves that formed and the breathtaking views.
Don’t miss this hidden spot in Ushuaia and book now a complete adventure with Balabam Travel.

The gateway to Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, this town feeds off tourism, an all-you-can-eat feast with unwavering demand. Boutique beers and wine tastings have overtaken tea time, and gear shops have replaced the yarn sellers.
While there are growing services that cater to international tastes, there's appeal in Natales' corrugated-tin houses strung shoulder to shoulder and cozy granny-style lodgings. Most notably, in spite of a near-constant swarm of visitors, the town still maintains the glacial pace of living endemic to Patagonia.
Puerto Natales is 250km northwest of Punta Arenas via Ruta 9, and has some striking views out over the mountains. It is the capital of the province of Última Esperanza and the southern terminus of the ferry trip through the Chilean fjords.
