Seeing that today marks the first ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we decided to share Episode 7 of East Coast Kids on YouTube. We go to Membertou Heritage Park to meet with Jeff Elaine Gould Ward. Our friends Fern, Veida, and Oona join us on this adventure where we make drums. Jeff teaches us about the culture and history of the Mi’kmaw people. The drum is deemed one of the sacred instruments as it represents a mother’s heartbeat. Make sure you visit the Membertou Heritage Park for the opportunity to experience first-hand the rich culture that is Membertou.

This week we took a visit to the Village of Baddeck, Nova Scotia which is situated in the heart of Cape Breton Island. Baddeck is home to the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, which overlooks the Bras d'Or Lakes. We were very lucky to get a personal guided tour from Gillian Collins, an employee of Parks Canada. After the Bell museum, we explored the Uisge Ban Falls Provincial Park and hiked to a spectacular waterfall at the end of the trail. Then we ended our day by visiting Tom's Pizza Restaurant to see why they have the best slice in town.
