There are plenty of short walks and interesting places to explore, from the famous Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes to nearby caves.

Rent a kayak from and paddle through the Pororari River—it really feels like you’re in Jurassic Park.

And be sure to end your day by catching a beautiful sunset on the beach.
