We went on a short road trip today after setting up camp. Whitefish Point, nicknamed the ship’s graveyard, with a history of hundreds of shipwrecks off the coast, including the SS Edmund Fitzgerald.
Followed by a stop at Tahquamenon Falls State Park. So beautiful, especially with the fall colors starting! 🍁

Left Mackinaw this morning and headed to the UP (Upper Peninsula) for a few days. Stopped to dip our toes in Lake Michigan on the way. Seeing lots more color now 🍁🍂

Today’s adventure took us over the Mackinac Bridge to the UP and the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie. Started out in fog so thick you couldn’t see the bridge, but luckily it cleared pretty quickly.
It was amazing to see the huge freighters move through the locks, which help them to transition from Lake Superior to Lake Huron by raising or lowering the water level!

Took the ferry to Mackinac Island and spent the day exploring this beautiful & unique island on Lake Huron. No cars on the island so bicycles and horse-drawn carriages are the only transportation.

Sort of a double sunrise this morning. It first peeked up from the horizon, briefly disappeared behind some clouds then reappeared moments later. 🌅☀️

Spent a full day in Niagara Falls (Canadian side) today. The weather was picture perfect, we walked nearly 10 miles, rode the Sky Wheel, took the boat ride into the falls and went to the top of the Skylon tower twice, once during the day and then at sunset.

Our last day in Colorado we spent the entire day exploring RMNP with Michael & Shawn. The weather was perfect and we saw and experienced so much natural beauty, scenery and wildlife! And Trail Ridge Road finally opened after a late summer snowstorm!

We left Colorado today to begin our long trek back to the east coast and took a little side trip to look for the one and only arrow in Nebraska! ➡️ And we found it!!
Not too far off the highway but a very hot (95*+) hike across RR tracks and up over a rocky embankment. Such a great find!

Funny story....the first two days at this campground we had no idea this beautiful lake was just across the road (up over a little rise) 😂

We were off the grid for a few days (not a bad thing) while camping outside Rocky Mountain National Park. Explored the park by car, by foot hiking and by horseback! Drove as far as we could on Trail Ridge Road, in the SNOW! ❄️😳 Hoping they open the road in a couple days ~ crazy weather here! So much beautiful scenery and wildlife!

Back from an awesome road trip ~ 530 miles, 5 mountain passes (Sandy drove her first one!) and so much gorgeous scenery! Spent the night at the Grand Imperial Hotel in the little mining town of Silverton. Great trip!
