The historic expansion of Magic Kingdom officially begins as permits are filed this week to start moving ground. Starting with Frontierland, where the American West has always been about seeking new adventures and keeping your eyes on the horizon.

Bringing the Western charm of iconic national parks to a brand-new story inspired by Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars,” Lightning McQueen, Mater and all their friends will soon find themselves at the Magic Kingdom in a reimagined section of Frontierland. To make way for this completely new frontier, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will be transformed into vast and rugged terrains for a rally race with some of the world’s most iconic racers.

Ahead of work revving into high gear next year, guests will have plenty of time to experience the charm and nostalgia of Frontierland as it is today.

Once completed, this reimagined area of Frontierland will be home to two new “Cars”-themed attractions taking guests into the wilderness beyond Radiator Springs.

And cruising just around the bend, guests will be able to venture beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains. Inspired by the wicked characters fans know and loathe, that will include two major attractions, plus dining and shopping.

Together, these new additions to Magic Kingdom will represent the largest expansion in park history.

The fabulously over-the-top villain from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” — and the acclaimed 2021 live action film — inspires De Vil’s, an all-new, adult-exclusive piano lounge coming to the Disney Destiny.

The Haunted Mansion Holiday will return to Disneyland Park, beginning July 29, 2024. Just in time for the Halloween Time and Holiday seasons at the Disneyland Resort, the attraction will don décor inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” At the center of the frightful fête’s ballroom scene is the gingerbread house, with an all-new design.

As work on the outdoor queue continues, Guests can gain access to Haunted Mansion exclusively with virtual queue.

Itinerary Details

Four ships, the Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Dream, will regularly sail to one or both of Disney Cruise Line’s signature island destinations, Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, offering voyages filled with even more Disney magic.

Tropical itineraries await with sailings from the Pacific Coast and Gulf of Mexico in late 2025 and early 2026, and a third season of voyages will embark across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific on the Disney Wonder from October 2025 to February 2026.

Guests can take a nostalgic walk down memory lane as the destination celebrates the Studio Tour’s 60th milestone anniversary with a dedicated experiential program from April 26 through August 11, 2024.

In 1964, Universal City Studios invited tourists to take a whirlwind adventure for a first-hand look at Hollywood moviemaking in action. Five times a day, for approximately just over two hours, Monday through Friday, iconic red and white Glamor Trams, with their ruffled awnings, would whisk eager tourists through its studio backlot to be a fly on the wall in the making of Universal movie and television productions.

Of all of the Pixar Fest updates, this is the one to bookmark if guests are excited for the chance to see popular Pixar characters at the Disneyland Resort celebration — happening now through Aug. 4, 2024.

Yes, there are more than 20 different Pixar characters (some never seen before at a Disney park) at Pixar Fest, adding to the fun of the celebration’s entertainment offerings, new novelties, themed food and drinks and more.

Since celebrating its grand opening earlier this year, Pixar Place Hotel continues to enhance its offerings with new amenities, limited-time experiences and more dining options. And on May 24, 2024, the Creators Club, the new concierge lounge for club level guests of Pixar Place Hotel, will open!

The Creators Club will offer continental breakfast, wine and cheese receptions, beer, sparkling wine, hot bites and desserts in the evening, as well as a dedicated concierge. Featuring concept art, maquettes, plus a snake ride vehicle from Jessie’s Critter Carousel, this space celebrates the collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios. All guests who book a club level room at Pixar Place Hotel will receive access to the Creators Club beginning May 24.

At Pixar Place Hotel, guests can also enjoy themed guest rooms and common spaces, plus take a dip in Pixel Pool and the “Finding Nemo”-themed pool area, dine on delicious eats at Great Maple and other hotel eateries like the newly-opened Small Bytes, and encounter special characters like Bing B**g and Joe Gardner. This is just the latest on Pixar Place Hotel offerings, and we look forward to welcoming our guests to the first and only hotel in the world to celebrate all the films of Pixar Animation Studios!

We hear Tiana has sent the invites out for her big Mardi Gras celebration! While the princess and her fun-loving friend Louis are finishing up details on the party down in the bayou, guests are probably wondering what to wear, what to bring and how they should prepare for an exhilarating musical adventure that crescendos with a 50-foot drop right before the grandest celebration this side of the Mississippi.

Well don’t fret because we’ve got all the things guests need to know before riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when the attraction opens on June 28 at Walt Disney World.

Tips on How to Ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Drop on in-to virtual queue...
When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens on June 28, it will use a virtual queue. Guests can request to join the virtual queue via the My Disney Experience app at one of two times: 7 a.m. or 1 p.m. While a standby queue will not be available during the attraction’s initial opening days, we expect to open a standby queue soon after the attraction’s opening.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will also be included as a Lightning Lane entrance in Disney Genie+ service*. Purchasing this service on the My Disney Experience app helps guests get to some of their favorite attractions faster through Lightning Lane entrances and includes digital downloads of select Disney PhotoPass attraction photos taken in the park on the day of purchase. Guests may check the app on the day of their visit for pricing and availability.

No party is complete without pictures. As guests make their way through the bayou to get to Tiana’s party, Disney PhotoPass Service will serve up a special photo when they’re almost there.

If your clients want to download this attraction photo and their other magical moments, dig no deeper than Memory Maker – with this all-inclusive photo package, guests can download all of their Disney PhotoPass photos taken during their vacation.

Be prepared to get wet!
At some point when guests drop on in to Tiana’s party, there’s a strong chance riders may get wet. While most guests will appreciate the refreshing cool down, others may want to bring their rain gear.

Didn’t bring any? No worries. There are plenty of places to find a poncho in Magic Kingdom.

Celebrate Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opening across Magic Kingdom
Shop new attraction merchandise
After riding the new attraction, we can bet guests will want to take a piece of the bayou home with them.

Starting June 28, guests can find the collections for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and “The Princess and the Frog”-inspired merchandise at the Emporium at Magic Kingdom. And, shortly after the attraction debuts, the merchandise will hop over to Critter Co-Op in Frontierland.

Try some of Tiana’s Famous Beignets!
A trip to the bayou is never complete without some good eats and sweet treats. Among the food and beverage offerings we look forward to sharing soon will be Tiana’s Famous Beignets, of course.

Beginning opening day, Golden Oak Outpost and The Friar’s Nook will be serving up these light, sweet, and fluffy beignets drizzled with honey and powdered sugar. These will be available for a limited time only so let the good times roll.

*Attractions with Lightning Lane entrances that are Disney Genie+ are limited in availability, subject to change or closure, may vary by date, are not guaranteed and may not be available at all on the date of visit or at the time you make a selection.

Rules have changed! Easiest thing to do is keep your travel party together! If you try to pick up folks in another resort, you'll be stopped at the gate, asking for the name on the reservation if you are staying there and/or have dining reservations. If neither apply and you say you are picking up other people, they won't let you through. :( I recently had a family think they could just stay at different resorts but were sharing a van so just wanted to pick others up and I'm glad I could inform them before going through all the trouble.
