On Easter Sunday, we can't help but reflect on all the beauty we saw in Calabria with our friends in Monterosso, Filadelfia, Vibo Valentia, San Nicole de Crissa, Pizzo and surrounding towns. Things have changed immensely since our visit in February and we wish everyone a Buona Pasqua . We can't wait to see you again in the fall, on the other side of these current events. Stay safe. We miss you all..

Look up the mountain from Monterosso, and you will see Villa Velia! A beautiful agriturismo (bed and breakfast) with 4 rooms, 2 bungalows, a large dining room and gathering spot and amazing kitchen. Hosts Antonio and Velia have been hosting groups for years! Enjoy the scenery, the tranquility and the wonderful cooking of Velia and her staff. Antonio will guide us around the local towns and artisans.

A beautiful stroll through San Nicola da Crissa today. Many thanks to Bruno, Nicola and Antonio for our guided walking tour.Sicily and Mt Aetna in the distance..gorgeous light and architecture walking through town. We will be visiting again on our tours in October and March.

Sue has been busy while in Monterosso. Besides the 5,000 pictures she took (galleries coming soon!) she has been busy using found natural elements to weave baskets. It is very inspirational over here!

Dyeing with graphite with Nella...a tradition handed down for generations. Thank you Nella and Antonio for the time you spent with us explaining this! Graphite mills in Monterosso were the primary source of dye for the women's clothing, which is featured in the local museum.

"Today's Ten" A trip to Tirilio, a large town with medeival roots, about 45 minutes from . We visited a weaver and an artist. Woodcarving, painting, instrument making, crochet, loom weaving and more.

Learning about the ancient traditions of dyeing with graphite, a material harvested in Monterosso at the graphite mills for years.

We'll be adding another event on our next tours. Spending time at Istituzione Comunale Castlemonardo in Filadelfia learning about the history of textile weaving in Calabria. There will be hands-on experience with small hand looms. An exciting addition to our schedule! Learning traditions...
