Life is such a wild ride.
To say that this year has been hard and I have experienced some incredibly low moments would be an understatment.
But God.
Here I am on my first day of my new job in October.
I’m trying to capture my new loafers (ha!) that make me feel awesome and remind me of how loved I am by my dear friends who got me the gift card to buy these.

And you know why I am excited - because it means that I really get to preach what I teach at All the Best Days. Time to travel more quickly and more often. Everything that we have created with our travel guides and bags is for women like me. Busy, working moms who need a person to take on the planning.

This is my Mastermind.
We meet twice a month and get away once a year.
There would be no All the Best Days without them.
When I want to quit they say - not today.
They see things I can’t see.
And they push me to ask the right questions.
They are an incredible gift in my life.

(Fun fact: If I could eat one food for the rest of my life it would be oysters and had NEVER EVEN HAD ONE BEFORE - so we got that fixed this trip as well.)

Got up early to see the sunrise.
The fog was so thick that at some points I could barely see.
I was sad to not see the sunrise.
But I could see the path in front of me.
And I knew the sun rose.
It faithfully does that, thank goodness.
The fog did eventually lift and I was able to see the ocean.
I drove to Thunder Hole.
The tide was low so it wasn’t a huge wave.
It was cool to see and I got to hear the “thunder” a little.
Made my way to Jordan Pond.
(The promise of popovers and lemonade after the hike at the restaurant - yes please!)
Half way through the hike I climbed Bubble Rock.
It wasn’t easy. But I did it. One step at a time.
I haven’t loved this year but I have lived it one day at a time.
I don’t know what the summit looks like in one’s life. I’m certainly not there.
But there are views along the way.
Beautiful views.
And you can always stop and rest on the path.

🛀 HOT SPRINGS, AR 🛀
There’s so many fun things to do in this town but of all the things, I love this the most! My favorite thing about it is that the experience is exactly the same as you would have received in the early 1900s. They still use all the original bathtubs and equipment which makes the experience so interesting and historical!
Yes you are nakey but they wrap you in a sheet and your bath is private. Except when the attendant unwraps you and you get in the tub! No doubt she’s seen it all!
It’s so cleansing. No lotions or soaps just good ol’ fashioned mineral water siphoned from the hot springs. You move from a whirlpool bath to hot packs to a steam box to a sitz bath and finally a needle shower.
I felt amazing after my bath. Do not skip this experience!

If you’re in the toddler stage, give that kid a ring pop and you’ve earned yourself a solid 20 min of silence. A pack of stickers to put all over themselves is fun too!
For younger kids, I love packing a draw-on pillowcase and markers. A bag of pipe cleaners is also a good time!
And for the older kids, honestly the iPad just does the trick! I throw caution to the “screen time” wind on vacation, I’m not trying to make things hard!

This is about zooming in on something, seeking it out and learning more about it than a casual stroll past it.

DC is one of my favorite places to get Inspired, because there is so much to see, learn and honor. Plan to spend a few hours at to see the beautiful grounds and pay respect to those who served our country. DC has a plethora of monuments and visiting the Lincoln Memorial is top of the list.

Today is BARB’s BIRTHDAY!
We’ve been putting up with each other’s shenanigans my whole life.
She can work a room, puts up with absolutely no crap, never stops asking questions and is the most giving person you will ever meet.
DO NOT tell her you love something - she will buy the Costco size of it for you every day for the rest of your life.
We celebrate you today, MOM, and all the laughter and fun you bring to our lives!

It’s true. Thirsty people can derail your travel plans. Avoid the drama and keep a jug of water in your car!
Each person gets their own refillable water bottle, and we refill them at rest stops, before hikes and throughout the day.

And then collect stickers from your travels to put all over them! It’s so fun!

This girl made me a mom a DECADE ago and it’s been the absolute best. I grabbed an old bridesmaid dress and gave this red carpet theme all I had. I shot a confetti cannon INSIDE my house! 😱 Such a fun night celebrating my girl, the irreplaceable Coco Bean. 🥰

My Best Day basically revolves around what I'm eating! I experience new locations through my stomach - I know I’m not alone here!

I ate the BEST green chili smothered open face burger in Pagosa Springs - gahhh, just smother me in green chili.

And who can HANDLE the food in NOLA - no one - it’s too good. I always make a point to stop for the GREATEST Po Boys sandwiches in the world.

I like to say traveling is a practice. And sometimes we get a little cocky and think we have the process nailed.
So we think to ourselves, “A convertible is a GREAT idea with 2 little kids for a road trip through Arizona!”
NEWS FLASH! It’s over a 100 degrees there! And there’s no trunk space!🙈
BUT it was a fun thing to try and there were moments we really enjoyed it AND I learned something!
Besides Louie had some car LEWKS that made me really happy.
ALSOOOO! I tried out for the first time AND LOVED IT! This is not sponsored! I will never do a rental company again if I can avoid it. My experience was so lovely and so easy.

I feel so insanely proud of myself for today. 💦 🥶 The water was FREEZING and I did NOT want to get in, much less, SLIDE DOWN THE ROCKS!
BUT. They needed me. So I went for it and we had THE BEST DAY!
Louie cried. My butt is all scraped up. That person behind us BUSTED. And well, that’s just life isn’t it - A BUST AND A BLAST. God bless it. Jump in.

Today was really GRAND.
We hit Mather Point, the Rim Trail and the Bright Angel Trail. So breathtaking.
What can you say about this Canyon?! You can’t capture it with pictures or words. It’s so special.

Re-entry from your trip can be TOUGH. Everyone is exhausted from traveling and you just want to sleep in your own bed. Don’t think about another meal to feed your hungry people. One of the best things you can do for yourself is call out for pizza delivery when you are 30 min away from home. Your people are hungry - feed them fast! And dinner showing up at your doorstep is *chefs kiss*

I LOVE finding the best little coffee shops across America! It feels like one of the easiest ways to try to connect with the local side of a place. I love everything about a coffee shop - the design, the dream, the heart, the baristas, the roasts. Give it all to me.

DON’T STOP FOR LUNCH! Y’all if you are headed out on your trip and you leave early morning, skip that first pit stop by packing lunch! I always pack the kids (and myself) lunch the night before we leave. It’s the last thing I want to do, but it’s SO IMPORTANT! In the morning, I throw their lunches in the snack bag and off we go. It’s the best way to keep us moving on the road and to keep the momentum going.
(But on the way home we are totally hitting all the fast food - what’s your favorite fast food stop?!) 🍔 🌮 🌭
