Sightseeing in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta we had to stop at the Recoleta Cemetary where many notable people are buried including Eva Perón (Evita).

It was cool to see such amazing graves. In my hometown we bury our loved ones individually usually close to other family members. Here the family buys a plot, builds a mausoleum of sorts and bury their families all together with caskets exposed. Many even had staircases that led to an underground area.

So beautiful!

Make sure to check out the site of Rufina. Rufina was a girl that died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 19. She was buried and later when the site was opened to bury the next loved one they noted scratch marks on the roof. Apparently Rufina was not dead after all and was buried alive. By the time they discovered the error it was too late.

Celebrated Erasmo’s birthday by eating at the infamous La Brigada in the San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

The owner greeted us at the door and had them show us to our seats.

As recommended by our waiter we started with the Goat Cheese appetizer and ordered an Ojo de bife and Lomo for our main course. Meat so tender you could cut it with a spoon. 😱 The waiter recommended a fantastic bottle of Malbec.

The restaurant was soon filled to capacity with locals and tourist alike.

We had so much fun and the food was so delicious that we made reservations to come again before we leave.

Finally arrived to Buenos Aires for the first leg of our trip after a 3 hour delay in Houston apparently the plane didn’t have any phalanges (iykyk) and we had to go back three times. 😬

We spent the day touring the neighborhood of Recoleta and finished eating dinner at La Brigada for Erasmo’s birthday.

While in Wynwood we noticed a lot of activity at the Miami Mojito company.

We decided to see what all the commotion was about.

A sign boasting the best mojitos of Miami…

Wow! 🍹I tried the Tamarindo Mojito which was amazing!!! And Eddie went with the classic!!!

The vibe was super chill and the dj was spinning a perfect blend!

I am totally in love with street art and the Wynwood neighborhood was filled with the best of the best of it!

The vibe was reminiscent of Love on Haight in SF.

Tons of shops selling local artist pieces from jewelry to clothing, vintage shoes, art pieces! It was so cool!!! 💕🥰💕

A local directed us to Havana Vieja in the heart of Miami Beach!

We started the meal with stuffed tostones and empanadas.

In true Vera fashion we couldn’t pass up the cocktails so I had La Mula (a Cuban version of the Moscow Mule), and Eddie had a classic mojito! 🤤

For dinner we shared the Lechón which was served with rice and beans and tostones.

Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive!

In search of the best Cuban coffee in Miami, La Colada on the infamous Calle Ocho kept coming up.

We decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed!

The barista met us at our table and explained the different options. She was super friendly and with her help we all picked the perfect coffee…

For me I got a Capablanca which is a hot layered coffee sweetened with condensed milk and the shot of baileys was a perfect balance.

Eddie chose the bolder Calle Ocho. It was perfect!

The atmosphere was everything you could expect from Calle Ocho and we plan to make another visit today!

Dear Travel Diary,

Our next stop through the Canadian Rockies was a stop off at .national.park

We decided to start the day with a hike to Ink Pots via Johnston Canyon which took us straight through the Lower and Upper Falls.

The trail to the lower falls was well maintained and pretty easy. It was also the busiest part of the trail.

Passing the lower falls the trail became more rugged and less people, and even more so after Upper Falls.

On the way to Ink Pots we encountered a small snow ❄️ shower. Back at home in Texas our friends and family were suffering with 100 degree weather so this was definitely unexpected- but we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Hiking is lot like childbirth in that sometimes the pain is so unreal and you just want to give up but you keep pushing yourself up that hill and once you get to the end and claim your prize, the pain magically goes away.

The Ink Pots did not disappoint!

Ink Pots 7.3 miles through Johnston Canton with a 1993 ft elevation gain.

Dear Travel Diary,

We had to stop and stretch our legs and the ranger at told us about this beautiful hike.

Right off 93 headed to our next stop we found Marble Canyon.

The beauty of this place seemed unreal. Two glaciers carved the canyon and the water rushed through the walls of the canyon with such force. (I will post video on a separate post).

The red chairs at the end were so fun!

Dear Travel Diary,

We had to say goodbye to with the traditional pose in front of the park entrance sign. 😜

The park was absolutely beautiful and we definitely will be back. So much more to see but we have to keep moving if we are going to make it to concert in Edmonton.

We crossed the Canadian border at Roosville just a little north of Eureka.

After a slight mix up at the border 🤦🏻‍♀️we were finally able to pass. (Let’s just say we aren’t in Texas anymore 😂).

The Canadian Rockies are stunningly beautiful! They almost seem unreal.

What a beautiful welcome!

Dear Travel Diary,

We decided to take advantage of our time at West Glacier National Park.

The weather was perfect for a hike and so we hit the trails.

In true Eddie fashion 😧 he chose an 8.5 mile hike with a 2080 ft elevation gain… but, I have to admit the walk was well needed after so long in the car.

It had rained so much that lots of the trail (especially past the junction) was washed out and had lots of water but that’s the adventure of hiking right?!?

“When everything feels like an uphill struggle just imagine the view from the top!”

There were some amazing views of Lake McDonald and Mt. Brown from the trail and we even managed to talk upon some wildlife 💕🥰

Almost to Edmonton & !!!

Dear Travel Diary,

Well we finally made it to Wyoming! Only 1400+ miles to go to see Garth Brooks!

It is so awesome to see the changing landscapes. We went from so flat that we almost went stir crazy to beautiful rolling hills and snow capped mountains.

Being from Texas, I never knew what purple mountains were. Why would they even call them that. On our first trip to Yellowstone 12 years ago we finally saw them for the first time. So majestic!

We plan to stop in Wyoming on the way back but for today we have other plans…

On a side note my Amazon delivery driver seems to be following me. 😜

Dear Travel Diary,

Oh wow! Day 1 was definitely an adventure. 😬

Just two hours from our first stop something hit the diamond plate on our camper. We didn’t think much of it until we stopped for gas and noticed that whatever hit separated the plate from the camper. If we hadn’t stopped when we did it would have come completely off. But no worries. I have good neighbor by my side and I am sure my agent Matt Dill will take care of me. We had to try to fix it ourselves and it definitely isn’t pretty but it isn’t going anywhere and no water will get in. 🤣😂🤣

After that two hour delay we arrived to our first stop- Carlsbad New Mexico. We arrived just in time to see the bats exiting the cave.

Super sad that the population of the free tailed Brazilian bats that once numbered in the millions was practically non existent. We still had a great time with the few we did see and the night sky did not disappoint.

We woke up bright and early to for our self guided cavern tour. I was so proud of my mother. She chose to take the natural entrance which is a 1.3 mile descent with 750 ft elevation change. She did so well!

The cave system is only 1 of over 130 in the park. 😲 The formations were well worth the hike.

We spent the ride listening to greatest hits-getting us ready for the show.

On a side note I must have miscalculated the mileage yesterday. 🫣 we still have 1822 miles to go!

When we were in Iceland in November we kept running into these sweet girls.

Coincidentally, our itineraries were lined up quite often and no matter where we were in Iceland we would see them. Lol.

Later we found out they were filming a tv show they produce in Estonia 🇪🇪 called Kolmnaist Karavanis.

On Erasmo Vera’s birthday we ran into them at Jokulsarlon and they gave him a chocolate from Estonia.

They told us about this cool restaurant in Hofn. So we decided to try it out.

We saw them there and they surprised him with birthday desserts and a song.

Skip through to 21:30 and you will see some familiar faces.

We will give out autographs at a later date. 😂😉😂

When googling must eat at places in Paris, was on the top of the list.
