Why I decided to be a Luxury Travel Advisor

For me, travel has always been about family. I inherited the travel gene from my parents and travel has shaped my life in countless ways. I have traveled to five continents and to most of the states. As a teenager, I spent a summer as an exchange student to Brazil, an experience which forever altered my life. I received both my BA and MA in Internationa

l Relations and worked as an International Banker for 11 years before retiring to have children. Through my three sons, I have enjoyed seeing their world perspective change as we explored the world together. I am happy to say that they also inherited the travel gene. I believe that travel strengthens bonds, transforms minds, and opens hearts to the beauty of the world. I have aligned myself with Largay Travel, a stellar travel agency with a 50 year history, and with Virtuoso. This is a good article on tips of what to do when you are seriously sick or injured while traveling outside of the US.

As many of you know, my husband had spinal surgery last year while we were in Italy. Some lessons from that experience: 1. Make sure to take out travel insurance -- contrary to popular beliefs, your US based health insurance probably will not cover medical expenses outside of the US. We had a travel insurance policy and it paid for my husband's surgery and related costs plus reimbursed us for our non refundable costs (almost $40k!); 2. When booking through me, I am there to help you in this situation. In our case, we were directed to the best hospital in Rome via the doctor that we met through the hotel (and my partners in Italy confirmed that we were at the best place); and, 3. Keep meticulous track of all expenses and make sure to get documentation from your doctors. I will take care of getting the documentation needed for you to make a claim from my partner(s).

Communication is key to a successful trip. Once you book your trip with us, that is only the beginning of the process. We will communicate with you on the details of your trip as we finalize everything. In the background, we are working closely with our partners to make sure everything is planned in accordance to your wishes and that things like dietary restrictions, birthdays, etc. are remembered. Finally we make sure that you are VIPed throughout your trip. And if there is an unexpected hiccup along the way (eg airport closes due to a strike, etc.), we figure out an alternative solution.
