On 1st of March ('1 Martie' in Romanian) in Romania, Bulgaria and a few other nearby countries, we celebrate the beginning of spring by offering a 'MĂRȚIȘOR' as we say in Romania. Usually the men give to the women a mărțișor, something with white and red that you can wear as a broch. But in some regions of Romania and in Bulgaria men receive this mărțișor. Its origin comes from more than 8000 years ago. Ask me about this story in a tour in Romania or in Bulgaria. Also we offer cakes and flowers in this day, and the flowers that say spring is here are the snowdrops. Below you can see both Romanian and Bulgarian mărțișor. Enjoy!
