We’ve been chewing over the future of English Vineyard Tours for the last few weeks and finally come to the decision to have a bit of a change.
Funny how having a baby turns priorities and shifts perspectives.
Next year we won’t be running tours or tastings at any of our lovely partner vineyards and instead raising our little family and experiencing summer weekends, what’s that like?!

Huge thanks to & for advising, being sounding boards and taking the time to listen to me go round and round and procrastinate.

More huge thanks to - you have been the most ideal partner in this little endeavour and sure we will work together again in the future.

And finally all of you that took the time to come and see us, listen to me waffle on and taste wine - THANK YOU!

See you in 2024 🥂

If you have a gift voucher from us you’ll still be able to use it with Trotton for next year, subject to availability so book soon to avoid disappointment, remember, they are only valid for 365 days.

We’ve been a bit quiet on here recently….
Took 6 weeks off to have a baby! Today was Eli’s first day on the vineyard, he was completely uninterested and slept the whole time even though there were dogs, horses and tractors to look at.
First tour back tomorrow and until the end of August, really limited availability but check out the website to see what we have coming up, link in bio ☝🏼
And no, the little man won’t be joining, newborns and wine tasting don’t mix 🥂🥂

Really looking forward to welcoming the festival back to the vineyard in August this year. 🥂

Last tour season we got through a whopping amount of Sussex Charmer cheese. Just shy of 20kg in the end, hardly surprising, it is incredibly moorish and the perfect compliment to the Brilliant Bacchus. Next week we’ll be putting the order in, I think we’ll start slow with just 10kg to get us started….🧀

We just love this menu from - it compliments the wine perfectly, uses locally sourced ingredients and is prepared 6 miles away from the vineyard.
Everyone is absolutely blown away by the desserts, the lemon posset is the most decadent and delicious way to finish off a tour, tasting and picnic. 🥂

Easy to add on picnics when making bookings online (or add on later, just give us 48hrs notice) and all dietary requirements are catered for, link in bio to book ☝🏼

*only picnics ordered from are allowed to be consumed on the vineyard.

Only a month to go until we are back on the vineyard 🥂
Really looking forward to this tour season, having launched the business in 2020 (🙈) we didn’t exactly have the best start and 2021 saw a 3000% increase.
This year we may actually experience a ‘normal’ tour season and see what it’s really like.
We’re kicking off the first three weekends in May FULLY BOOKED 🥂
We have a handful of spaces left on the 28th May, a great way to start the bank holiday.
The first weekend in June is fully booked and then we have limited availability throughout June with a handful of spaces left available on each tour.
July & August have good availability at the moment and the diary isn’t open for September yet, need to see how much wine we get through!
Link in bio to book, remember to add on those picnics and get in touch for private tours, minimum numbers of 8, subject to availability.

Whilst the vineyard is still closed for tours (only 7 weeks to go though!) it’s the perfect time to explore other wine regions.
We find ourselves in Cyprus, exploring the vineyards near Paphos.
Wine has been made for centuries on the Island but they consider themselves New World as they explore different grape varieties as well as ones native to Cyprus.

We tasted native variety Xynisteri, if you can find it, give it a go. A refreshing, crisp dry wine with green apple and zesty notes.
Deep coloured Rosés made from Mataro, Cab Sauv, Shiraz and Maratheftiko.
And bold reds from Mataro, Cab Sauv & Maratheftiko.

Similarly to the English wine scene we’ve found excellent quality from smaller producers and a growing industry which we hope to see go from strength to strength.

Sorry we’ve been a bit quiet for the last few days! While Mother Nature was doing her thing we lost power like maybe other people around the country so no Instagram for us! ⁣

We hope everyone was able to stay safe & we’re definitely looking forward to less blustery & warmer days ahead! 🌬⁣

We’ve had a lovely week off accompanied by some glorious sunshine but was it too little too late? This photo popped up as a ‘memory’ from this time last year, the vineyard was a hive of activity with trailers, laden with crates of grapes off to the winery.
🥂
In other news the diary is already getting booked up for next year 🥳🥂 - tours are starting back up again on the 7th May and we’ve already got bookings for that day and into June too! We’ve just ordered another picnic table as the picnics proved so popular this season and more fun table clothes to add a splash of colour among the luxurious green landscape🌳(campaign required for a vineyard emoji?)

We’ve had quite a few enquiries for next year at Trotton Estate Vineyards already so we got a bit excited and opened the diary up today
🥂
We are taking it slow next year, we sold out of 2018 & 2019 this year and made a little dent in the 2020 as well so need to take it easy. We will be doing our usual Saturdays at 11am starting on Saturday 7th May and from the 1st July we’ll be adding the Friday afternoon tours too. Currently the diary is open until the end of August 2022.

How did it all start?

We are on a mission here at English Vineyard Tours - to get you touring, tasting and ultimately buying the English wine produced on our doorstep, but how did it all start?

In 2018 our founder, Clare de Brett, decided it was time for a change after 10+ years in the world of international events and hospitality. Situated in Haslemere on the borders of Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex she realised she found herself in wine country with a plethora of award winning vineyards dotted around producing exceptional still and sparkling wines. After attending tours during the summer months at vineyards throughout the three counties she decided it was something she wanted to pursue and became passionate about English wine.

A quick search on the internet for 'jobs in wine' kept bringing up the same minimum requirement, qualifications in the subject. So, she found her pencil case, bought a note book and headed down to Plumpton Agricultural College to do her WSET Level 2, she was hooked and found herself back there in the Autumn doing WSET Level 3.

She spent a week contacting the smaller vineyards within an hour of Haslemere enquiring about any current vacancies or asking for work experience on site and kept getting the same feedback;
