Today is the 30th Anniversary of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios. To celebrate let’s visit Hollywood Studios and "drop in" to check out one of my favorite attractions!

Guests of this attraction are invited to check in to the hotel inspired by an episode of the Twilight Zone. You are set out to find out what happened on a stormy Halloween night in 1939 when 5 unlucky souls disappeared from the Hollywood Tower Hotel’s doomed elevator.

The Tower of Terror stands 199 feet tall, and is one of Walt Disney World's tallest attractions. Why 199 feet and not 200 feet tall? If it were just 1 foot taller it would have required an airplane beacon light which would have messed up the spooky aesthetic!

Speaking of aesthetics...because the Tower of Terror is so tall, you can view it from several areas around the WDW property. It's so tall that the upper half of it is visible from Epcot, just behind the Morocco pavilion. Disney Imagineers designed the exterior and colors to make it blend into the distance beyond the Morocco skyline.

If heights aren't your thing - beware!! Tower of Terror features a 13-story drop, and the drop sequence for each elevator car is selected at random by the attraction’s computer system. I've dropped just a few times, and I swear once we dropped at least 10 times! It was amazing! I'm not normally a big fan of the bottom falling out under me, but I'm hooked on this attraction!

This ride is awesome during the day, but incredible at night! I recommend riding it during both times of the day to see which one you prefer. Tower of Terror has a height restriction of 40 inches for this attraction, and it isn't safe for expectant mothers. Make sure you keep smiling because guests with the Memory Maker Photo Pass will have photos and a live video of their ride added to their account!

What of my lengthy stanza on the Declaration of Independence? How could I adequately describe the grandeur of purple mountain majesties let alone amber waves of grain? Perhaps you failed to realize that I devoted an entire section to enumerating each and every state bird across the nation? It was alphabetized!

We have had the absolute best day exploring Isla Roatan off the coast of Honduras. It is such a beautiful island. We spent the day hanging out with sloths, monkeys, and toucans, snorkeling and checking out the chocolate factory. Be prepared for a ton of pictures!
