It truly takes a village, and in this case, an Italian one! ❤️

Last September, I made the decision to revamp the Into Tuscany website. While I had initially built the first version a while back, it was high time to bring in the professionals.

Into Tuscany is more than just a project; it's a commitment to supporting the local community. This involves not only connecting guests with Tuscan farmers and makers but also engaging local professionals for the business's back-end.

To teamed up with these incredible Italian women has been an absolute pleasure.

A big shoutout to .riso.copymanager for all her work on communication, Rosaria Losco for crafting the website, and Alice .comuni for putting together the brand board. Huge thanks to them!

Go check it out and don't forget to sign up for the newsletter for updates on tour dates and stories about the people and places of Tuscany. https://intotuscany.com/

Hello there!

I’m Giuditta, the co-founder of IntoTuscany and I just realized that I’ve never introduced myself before, so here I am 🙂

I started Into Tuscany in 2022 to connect guests from around the world to beautiful Tuscan experiences.

What I love the most about my work?

➡️ Get to know Tuscan farmers and makers that are living their life on their own terms.

➡️ Witness how transformative it can be for guests to participate in rural experiences and connect with local people.

👶 I’m also a mom of a 3 year old who speaks Italian with an American accent
🌲 I feel at home both in an olive grove and in a Pacific Northwest’s forest
🇮🇹 🇺🇸 I'm mostly Italian but a little bit American too.

You can learn more about me in the bio on the NEW WEBSITE!

Too proud not to share this WhatsApp message from a guest ❤️

In our fast-paced life we constantly participate to all sorts of experiences, from ordinary to meaningful.

Having a guest share how TRANSFORMATIONAL our tour was for them, it fills me with joy.

It means that not only the tour had brought them new perspectives, emotions and discovery, but also some kind of change in the personal lives.

How powerful is that?

🌍️ Where were you the last time you had a transformational experience during a trip? I'd love to know!

Do you know the fundamental difference between buying things Vs buying experiences? 💡

➡️ When you spend money on experiences you're making an investment.

It leads to greater returns because memories of positive experiences ripen and become even more important when reflected over time.

Think about a special memory of a shared moment with your family or with your friends?

Isn't even more special now after years, right?

If in 2024 you want to invest in memorable moments come with us to Chianti this year 💫

Dates will be out soon but you can already check the tour on the website.

Spaghetti with tomato sauce 🍝

A simple dish with a quite complicated history.

Did you know that this quintessential Italian dish is actually the product of centuries of cultural exchanges and invasions?

Reading 'A short history of spaghetti with tomato sauce' by food historian Massimo Montanari triggered lots of reflections on my own identity as someone who has lived in several countries.

I talk about it in my last podcast episode for . Link in bio.

If you're a foodie and loves stories is definitely for you 💫

Piazza Santo Spirito❤️

A guest asked me why I chose this location for our stay in Florence during the tour. It's simple.

It's the last corner of Florence that still belongs to its people ✨

In the morning it has a small village's vibe, with older people walking around to buy groceries for lunch, while in the afternoon is full of children playing in the square while parents have coffee at the bar.

There's a weekly market, a monthly flea market and small family owned shops that have always been there.

While mass tourism has changed the city, forcing Florentines to live in the outskirts, this corner seems to have hold onto its identity. For how long? Who knows...

If you're interested in a tour that allows you to experience a place and avoid the more touristy sights, check our website. 2024 dates will be out soon 💫

Empathy is walking in someone else's shoes 🌼

Before a tour starts I love to meet with guests online and once in Tuscany I get the chance to spend time with them and be aware of how they feel about the experiences.

Using empathy helps me making last-minute decisions and change of plans if I believe that I can create a better outcome for my guest.

Maybe I planned a gourmet restaurant but my guests seem to cherish more a down to earth trattoria.

Perfect. I make changes.

The beauty of it is that the tour is really tailored on people's preferences and personality.

Pic of a guest's happy face in front of an unexpected gigantic slice of watermelon 😋 🍉

The 2024 tours' dates will come out soon. In the meantime if you have questions or just want to say hi, feel free to DM or email me.

Every time I go to one of my dear friend's house tucked in the hills of San Donato, it feels like stepping in the Tuscan version of Beatrix Potter's books.

The pietra serena sink, the decorated ceramic plates, the dried herbs hanging from the ceiling, the rocking chair beside the huge fireplace.

In a world where everything changes so fast, this place seems to happily go against the grain❤️

A guest once told me that she loves wine and vineyards, but was so sick and tired of wine tastings where you visit a cellar full of barrels 🍷

I get that.

Visiting a wine cellar with barrels is a fantastic experience the first time you do it, because it's new. But the tenth time? Not so much...

💫 What's fascinating though, is what moves people. It's their personal story and why they chose a path full of hardship out of love for nature and wine.

Not two stories of wine makers are the same.

How lovely would be to sit in a winemaker's living room and chat about the beauty and struggles behind every bottle of wine.

It's personal and it's always different.

It's an exchange between humans with different lives that benefits everyone.

Now if this isn't magic I don't know what it is 🌈

✨When was the last time you gathered with your family in a meaningful way?

Family reunions are special because each person is leaving behind their routines and patterns to immerse themselves in a completely different environment.

Doing things together creates space for deep connection especially the kind of experiences that you wouldn't probably do at home ❤️

➡️ How good would be to make fresh pasta with your daughter who's about to go to college?

➡️ How fun would be to see your son running after a truffle dog in the woods?

➡️ And how lovely would be to just be with your family, instead of rushing through your to-do list for the week?

The reason why you keep putting off such a wonderful reunion is because you're worrying about the effort, time and frustration that will take to organizing such a trip on your own.

Good news, I'd love to help you! You can check our website to learn more about our guided tours 💫

Do you know what makes an experience great?

When the person experienced it is in a state of FLOW, which means that :

🔹 you're completely focused on what you're doing

🔹 there's balance between challenge and skill required

🔹 you loose your self-consciousness, so you forget about what others around you are doing

🔹 you loose track of time

🔹 you participate for the sake of the experience and the process instead of some external reward

Think about a child playing with sand on the beach...

I get in a state of flow when I'm working with my hands, especially cooking and It so powerful to watch guests to get in that same state of flow ✨

If you're interested in having this type of experience check our website https://intotuscany.com/

A visual checklist of a medieval hilltop village in Chianti :

✔️ stone steps
✔️ geraniums in terracotta pot
✔️ rebellious tree that comes out of nowhere
✔️ curtain in front of the door
✔️ vine
✔️ brown shutters

Only missing a sleeping cat 🐈️

I could walk on those streets for hours and get lost in all the details.

I once met a guy who was convinced that truffle hunters were hiding truffles during the night so dogs could find them in morning 🤦🏻‍♀️

The magic of truffles is that they haven't been domesticated by humans...yet.✨

🔸They live in symbiosis with only a certain kind of trees. Like oaks in the Chianti aerea.

🔸They need a specific kind of soil: alkaline ph, very calcareous, well ventilated, without water stagnation.

🔸They emanate that amazing scent only when fully ripe so critters of the woods, like foxes, squirrels, wild boars or truffle dogs (!)can find them.

Going out in the woods, following the dogs and smelling the truffles is, as a guest said " A totally unforgettable experience".

By the way, how adorable is Billo in the third pic?

Food plays a huge role in understanding Tuscan culture 🍽️

This is what one of our dear guest said about her experience during the Chianti tour ⬇️

'Food was central to our trip - and we had the best meals in Greve. My most treasured memories are of food
shared on tables laid out in the grass, eating our way slowly through farmhouse food, freshly made and
brought out one course at a time. Because this trip was also a family reunion, the conversations around the
dining table connected our family and its many generations in a different way'

When I met Valentina at I fell in love with her story and her goats 🐐

I knew straight away that I wanted my guests to experience her farm and to connect with her.

I know that once back home my guests will remember the people they met in Tuscany.

I was so happy when one of them wrote me this:
✏️" Valentina really stayed me and so did her goats. I fell in love with the goats and really wanted to spend more time with them."

I talk more about Valentina's story on my podcast. You can find the link here: https://giuditta.substack.com/p/people-that-inspire-me-valentina

Salt has been called for centuries 'white gold' as its role was essential to preserve food, like meat or fish, as well as to prepare medicinal concoctions to disinfect and dehydrate.

People used to believe that salt made you smart 💡

There’s a hint of this idea in the English expression "take it with a grain of salt”, meaning be skeptical and use your judgment.

In the 13th century, Florence stopped using salt in its bread after a dispute with the maritime republic of Pisa. Since then, Tuscan bread has been made without salt for centuries.

It was quite fun to dig into this story and if you're curious about it you can listen to my podcast here: https://giuditta.substack.com/p/the-one-thing-i-dont-miss-of-tuscan

I've now lived abroad for more than a decade and if there is one thing that I don't miss of Tuscan cuisine is...unsalted bread! 🍞

➡️ But food always tells a story and I love to get to know it.

I talk about the origin of unsalted bread in my podcast.

It goes out tomorrow.
