Howdy yall!
Here's your reminder to slow down and smell the blue bonnets this spring (at least I think that's how we say it in Texas)!
We started our morning with a visit to Ennis, the Blue Bonnet Capital of Texas. We visited several of their points of interest, and the Meadow View Nature Area on Lake Bardwell had the prettiest views of all.

Happy Saturday!
I don't know about yall, but we are quickly getting tired of this cold spell that has taken over Texas. We were ready to get back out and explore. We needed something closer to home, so we picked out Paris, and it did not disappoint. We watched the sunset over the lake, ate biscoff butter crepes, and strolled the brightly lit downtown, admiring the beautiful (and frozen) fountain. If you are looking for a small town with friendly faces, good food, and the obe and only Eiffel Tower of Texas, then add Paris to your list!

Looking to enjoy some fall foliage in East Texas? Lake Bob Sandlin State Park in Pittsburg, TX will not disappoint! The Lakeview Loop Trail is an easy 0.6 mile trail that meanders through the woods, following the shoreline of Lake Bob Sandlin Cove. While the park is one of the smaller parks in the state, it still packs in plenty of East Texas beauty!

MINGO FALLS (1 MILE ROUNDTRIP MODERATE HIKE) (1 HOUR)
CLINGMANS DOME (STRENUOUS 1 MILE ROUNDTRIP) (2-4 HOURS)
APPALACHIAN TRAIL (2,200 MILES, WE WOULD SUGGEST TAKING A SHORT STROLL)
ROARING FORK MOTOR NATURE TRAIL (5.5 MILES) (1-2 HOURS)

Looking for the perfect fall family activity while enjoying these fall colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway? Then make sure to add The Orchard at Altapass to your list of stops. Located at MP 328.3, this 100 year old heirloom orchard has provided both education opportunities and family fun for generations. The U-Pick is currently open Wednesday-Sundays, 10-4. Don't forget to visit the gift shop where you can pick up goodies like apple butter and pie filling. The best part- enjoying a slice warm apple pie with a scoop of pecan praline ice cream on their deck with a view of the orchard and mountains. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the season!

God was putting on a show for us in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This why the Blue Ridge Mountains are named Blue Ridge. Check out the different layers of blue. These were truly spectacular views. They did not seem real. This was the Cowee Mountain overlook in the Pisgah Region of the Parkway.

Today we finished the Blue Ridge Parkway with the hike up to Devil's Courthouse. This hike could easily be compared to Clingman's Dome with a steep but (mostly) paved 0.5 mile out and back hike up to the summit. During this, hikers will gain almost 300 feet in elevation. It's a thigh-burner, but the reward of the 360° view is well worth it!

This might be the best one yet. This was a more strenuous hike on the Blue Ridge Parkway but well worth it. It was 2.5 miles round trip, very rocky, a lot of roots, and there were slippery stairs, it is downhill the whole way to the falls meaning what comes down must come back up. There is an extra mile from the parking lot to the trailhead, this part is easy.

We are celebrating our 4th anniversary by glamping in a treehouse!

The Pineola, outside of Linville, NC, offers multiple lodging options including motel style rooms, cabins, camping sites, and our personal favodite-the treehouse! We are loving our secluded little hideaway in the woods. The Pineola also offers great amenities such as fire pits, hammocks, live music on the weekends, pickle ball, and nature trails. Plus, it's only a couple of miles off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, making it the perfect fall stay!
