A last minute adventure to Peru thanks to the kind invite of the @adventuretravelassociation and @peru .
Everyone has heard of the Inca Trail. Very few have heard of the Royal Inca Road over a 1000 miles away, located in the Northern part of the country. One of the best preserved tracts of the greatest pre-industrial road built by the most advanced society in pre-European South America.
The drive from the mountain town of Huaraz, nestled in the foothills of the Cordillera Blanca is filled with beautiful views of Huascarran, the tallest mountain in Peru and interesting stops such as Chavin, one of the earliest Pre-Inca ancient cities.
At the trailhead we were welcomed by members of the municipality of San Marcos who performed beautiful rituals along with a ceremony to honor Pachamama (Mother Earth).

What began only as a dream of ours 2 years ago, when the world stoped turning and the porters of Kilimanjaro lost their main income from portering on treks, is now a reality.
We facilitated a fundraiser which brought forward the generosity of so many wonderful human beings who donated almost $8,000 to help the porters feed their families.
The idea was to provide and honorable income for the porters rather than undermine them through handouts. We wanted them to feel useful and proud. This gave birth to the idea of the porters earning a pay check while helping update several buildings at a local orphanage in Moshi, Tanzania.
I was fortunate enough to be able to personally take part in Phase 1 back in September 2021 and what I witnessed changed me forever.
The readiness, care, kindness and professionalism the porters displayed warmed my heart beyond words. They have worked tirelessly for days to make sure the children of the orphanage have a beautiful clean place to sleep in.
I am grateful to all who supported this cause, to the porters for their remarkable participation and to Share Tanzania for opening their doors and allowing us to help provide the children, the porters and their families with a better life even for a little bit.
Now that Phase 2 is almost complete I couldn’t help but feel humbled by the people involved and the process which taught me so much.
One of the main goals of YOLO Dream Adventure Travel is to leave every place we adventure to, better than we found it. From the environment to the local people, we strive to help maintain the identity and integrity of the local nature and culture.
This project went above and beyond any of our expectations and we could not have done without you.

The famous Barranco wall is SO much fun! It puts a break in the usual hiking trail with a tad of a non-technical challenge.
At the top you will find yourself above the clouds for some spectacular views.
If you are lucky, you may even see Mt. Meru (14,968’) Tanzania’s 2nd highest peak, showing through the clouds in the distance.
Climbing Mt. Meru can be a stand alone trek during your visit in Africa or some use it as a warm up before tackling Kilimanjaro.
