With early commercial success, he embarked on his most lasting achievement, the innovative 4-story warehouse on Church Street, designed by the master architect Frank Lloyd Wright. A testament to architectural brilliance and entrepreneurial vision! 💼

🏡✨ At 2714 West Burnham, the Model B1 of the American System-Built homes stands meticulously restored to its 1916 appearance. This 805 square foot gem beautifully captures nearly all of Wright's design principles from his earlier Prairie period. Tickets are now available for our annual Wright and Like Architectural Tour, being held in Racine, Wisconsin, on Saturday, September 7th. In 1917, a Chicago Tribune advertisement showcased the American System of home building, offering homes with Frank Lloyd Wright's creative touch at no extra cost. Wright's dedication to the project resulted in over 950 working drawings and sketches, creating around thirty standardized models. The system utilized precut lumber from a factory, reducing waste and skilled labor needed, with components shipped by rail to construction sites. 🚂🛠️

Wyoming Valley School Preservation Consultant, Peter Rött, grew up hearing stories of how teachers "forbade bouncing balls in the gym for fear of damaging the light fixtures." However, on inspection, he found the lights were "durable with replacement parts easily obtainable – evidence that Wright had designed the school with children in mind." via

We currently have 6 private residences on the tour (designed by architects Frank Lloyd Wright, Ken Dahlin, Hans Geyer, John Randal McDonald, and Edgar Tafel) along with the S. C. Johnson campus (Administration Building (FLW), Research Tower (FLW), & Fortaleza Hall (Norman Foster)).

🏫 In 1957, Frank Lloyd Wright made a generous donation to the Wyoming School District, offering his design and 2 acres of land in honor of his beloved mother, Anna Lloyd Jones Wright. As a kindergarten teacher, she fostered his lifelong love of learning. 🍎
