The National September 11 Memorial Museum (9/11 Memorial & Museum) is a memorial commemorating the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001, for the victims and those people involved in the rescue and recovery operations. The memorial was built in the same location where the Twin Towers were destroyed during the attacks. The footprints of the Twin Towers remain underground and occupied by two squared pools, called Reflecting Absence, which symbolize the loss of life and the physical void left after the attacks. The museum is located underground in this area and contains artifacts from this fatal day, including the last Column, and the last piece of steel from the Twin towers
