FAQ Is Alta worth a stay? Yes! Alta is rich in culture and history. No trout yet. The water in the fjord is cristal clear but the rivers get muddy from the melting water, slowly. If everything developes like in the last year, the muddy water will bring the first sea trout. 🤞

Fishing for trout can end with two halibuts on the beach!
I did not intend to catch them but there are so many in the fjord that my hook got stuck in not only one, but two fish.
After that I could not release them anymore and so I WILL HAVE TO smoke them.😄

We searched for clams at the beach and had them for dinner.
Clams with white wine and vegetables, fries and home made mayo. Nice!

Sennaland, on the plateau 50 km from Alta centrum in the middle of nowhere. I brought some friends to the start of their 5 day ski adventure. They will have a good time up there as the weather is promising!

Hang 'em high!
Extremely low fishing pressure means not only that you have very high chances of catching even big fish, it also means that you can eat your catch at the campsite without a bad conscience.
Many fly fishers, especially the ones targeting salmon, practice catch and release, still.
Fishing in small groups in the lakes of the backcountry offers something for everyone, no matter how your stand on the subject may be.
This shot is taken during an expedition in summer. I can't wait to fish and experience the mountains how I love it the most! Mild and dream-like with a sprinkle of mosquitos😀

Good company on the lake! We caught just some small fish which I threw in the fridge to use as a bait when fishing for pike in Kautokeino.
All in all a great time again and very chill.
The bbq was great and everyone brought something, from home made sausages to marinated pork. We had beer and Mintu, Finish liquor with peppermint. Coffee, tea and even desert.
The more I carry to the fishing spot, the higher the comfort in the field.
After the sun set, we moved back and were all a bit more grounded than before. Until the next time!
(Minus 14 degrees, felt like minus 20. Dressing well for the conditions is important and very different from dressing fancy😁)
