The Craig Botetourt Scenic Trail is a proposed 26 mile trail along the former Craig Valley Branch of the C&O Railway. If built, the trail will run from Eagle Rock in Botetourt County, VA to New Castle in Craig County, VA.
This trail will provide access for people of all ages to be able to recreate on bikes, on foot and on horseback.

This is the kind of thing that makes us so proud to be a part of the Twenty24 Pro Cycling program.

Junior Grad Series:

- “Being a part of this team has been an amazing opportunity. It was special to have teammates from all around the country — and even the world — and all be connected through our love for bike racing. All of us juniors look out for each other and support one another. We all stay in touch and keep each other updated on our racing and training, along with our non-cycling lives as well. Though we are far apart in distance, it’s really sweet to know that these girls have my back from hundreds of miles away. Being on this team allowed me to branch out more into the cycling community as I met so many new people, whether they be from Roanoke, Virginia, or at a big, international level race. I’ve made so many friends along the way and have grown and improved as a cyclist and person.

During my time on the team, I learned a lot too. Cycling — along with every other sport — has its tough moments. There’s no sugar coating it — every athlete experiences struggle and failure. Being on Twenty24 showed me that I’m not alone in my struggles. It is so relieving and motivating to know that my experiences are not unique. And that I am surrounded by an amazing support system of uplifting girls who have experienced— or are experiencing — very similar things.”

We love our neighbors over in Bedford and this is a great time of year to explore the roads of Bedford on two wheels.

Arrows are being painted! We use a water-based spray paint, which allows the arrows to easily disappear in only a few weeks!

Let's help Build the Trail!
The proposed Craig Botetourt Scenic Trail will run 26 miles from Eagle Rock, VA to New Castle, VA , following the old "Craig Valley Spur" of the C&O Railway.
The project is being run by the VA Department of Transportation and the public comment period is now open!

Peak fall foliage isn't far away: predictions are that we'll see the best colors in early to mid October.
The Virginia's Blue Ridge Gran Fondo is a great way to experience fall on two wheels. Rolling through the back roads of Botetourt County, this event from Muddy Squirrel, LLC shows off some of the best views the regions has to offer.

Great news for our greenways!

The new section of Roanoke River Greenway (from Bridge Street to Aerial Way) has been open for nearly two months and seen a lot of visitors in that time! Last night, the City of Roanoke, Virginia accepted $172,000 from Pathfinders for Greenways to finish the new Bridge Street Trailhead parking lot!

The project is already in the works and we hope to open the trailhead parking lot later this year. Successes and partnerships like this are what we'll be recognizing at our Celebration of 100+ Miles of Trails and Greenways event this Saturday at Starr Hill. We hope you can join us!

Our sources on the ground tell us that the Roanoke College Cycling Team Go Noke! Mountain Bike Race is this Saturday and registration closes tomorrow - Friday, August 25th, 2023 - at 5pm.
An unnamed person tells us this race is the first at Explore Park in years and they confirm that participants are sure to have "fun". We have heard reports that this thing called "mountain bike racing" brings long-lasting grins to the faces of those involved.
