Orton, once a hidden gem, has now benefitted from becoming part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Keeping watch over the South Downs, The Long Man of Wilmington is one of Sussex’s most iconic features. At 72 metres, he’s the largest depiction of a human figure in Europe and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
This mysterious guardian of the South Downs has baffled archaeologists and historians for hundreds of years. Fertility symbol? Ancient Warrior? Early 18th century folly? We may never know.
In 1925, this iconic monument was given to The Sussex Archaeological Society by the Duke of Devonshire.

The Path to Halnaker Windmill, the magical tunnel of trees. Once the tunnel of trees has ended it is well worth continuing along the footpath as it turns north up Halnaker Hill, at the top of which you’ll find Halnaker Windmill. The views across the surrounding countryside are spectacular. You can even see the sea on a clear day

North Wales Trip ▶️
For the first night, after a long day and miles away from home 🙈 we chose The Celtic Royal Hotel to stay which is situated in the historic town of Caernarfon, North Wales. The world famous UNESCO Heritage site of Caernarfon Castle is just a few hundred yards away, a magical site not to be missed, especially when the Castle lights up in a splendour of colour under the night sky.
Caernarfon Castle is recognised around the world as one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages. This fortress-palace on the banks of the River Seiont is grouped with Edward I's other castles at Conwy, Beaumaris and Harlech as a World Heritage Site.

An excellent learning experience and amazing underground experience in North Wales.
Sygun Copper Mine is a Victorian copper mine which closed in 1903 but was renovated and reopened by the Amies family as a tourist attraction in 1986, focusing on audio-visual tours of the underground workings. Sygun Copper Mine was once a main supplier of minerals in Wales. Self-guided audio visual tours allow you to explore the stunning caves and old workings on foot, in complete safety. There are winding tunnels and vast, colourful chambers, with magnificent stalactite and stalagmite formations and copper ore veins which contain traces of gold, silver and other precious metals.

For the rainy morning we chose to visit National Slate Museum at Llanberis.
A living working museum housed in the Industrial Victorian Workshops that once serviced and maintained the enormous Dinorwic slate quarry.
We explore the history of slate, the traditional craft of the quarryman, presentation in authentic workshops and than when rain stopped ✋️ we climbed up the querry to enjoy the beautiful Llanberis view from the top !
Visit at Museum is free , you only have to pay £5 for Car Park !!

We did it! 👌❤️ Snowdon 1085 above sea level is the highest mountain in Wales and England and is one of Wales' most famous landmarks. Climbing Mount Snowdon is an adventure that should be on everyone's bucket lists!
We had a fantastic, clear weather up to 800 m, misty above that. We reached summit in full fog and the temperature dropped 10-12 degrees.
