🇲🇽 (H) I surely was sad reaching Playa Del Carmen, knowing it would be the final stopp of this amazing road trip.

México had so much to offer: fantastic beaches, cultural treasures, an exciting nightlife, some of the best dishes in the world! And yet, PdC should become the final highlight on this tour. Some might say it's just another touristic city on the yucatanian coast like Cancún or Tulum, but to be honest: I kind of liked those trendy modern places just as well! So I spent the rest of my Dinero in countless stores and bars, just enjoying live the mexican way.

There you have it folks! Have you ever been to Yucatan? What were your highlights? Did I miss out on something? Well let me know in the comments down below, because México, yo voy a regresar! 🎩

🇲🇽 (G) Finally we've made it back to the shore fellas and what a shore it is!

I was really looking forward to this one and surely wasn't disappointed. Yeah, it is pricey to stay close to the beach of Tulum, but it's worth every penny. If you still want to save a dime or two, keep your eyes open for glamping areas. The walls of a tent might be thinner than the once in Hilton Hotel, yet it' s cheaper and the beds are just as cosey, while the sounds of the waves rushing ashore is free! Another way to lower your expenses is to have your meals at the city center, rather than the beach.

Absolutely Does are taking selfies at the incredible statue of Mother Nature at the Ahau Tulum Hotel & Restaurant, visiting the ancient Mayan ruins at the Playa Ruinas and snorkeling with seaturtles in the sparkling ocean! 🎩

🇲🇽 (G) After spending the morning in the Suytun cenote, it's time to get back to the beautiful shores of Yucatan again. But before we jump into the refreshing turquoise sea, we should make a final halt at the ancient Maya village Cobá with it's 45m heigh Nohoch Mul-Pyramid in the middle of the jungle.

Unfortunately the big pyramid had been shut down for the public to climb on nowadays, which definitely takes away a lot of the excitement, however Cobá is still worth a visit on our journey east towards Tulum.

The admission to access the area is about 6$ while the opening hours are daily from 8a.m. until 5p.m. 🎩

🇲🇽 (F) There is a saying that the early bird catches the worm and so I started my day early to the beautiful Suytun cenote, which is located only 15 minutes away from Valladolid.

Cenotes are natural caves in the ground that can be found all over Yucatan. Known for it's stunning selfie potential it is essential to arrive here early, since Suytun has become one of the most popular hotspot for influencer worldwide. The legend goes, that Instagram itself build the 25 meters catwalk in the center of the cenote to promote it's popularity. TripAdvisor rates this sight with 4.5 of 5 possible stars.

Opening hours are daily from 9:00 a.m till 4:30 p.m. The admission is 120 pesos (~6$)🎩

🇲🇽 (D) Arguably the most famous cultural sight and a must-see of Yucatan is Chichén-Itzá, an ancient city, build by Maya people some 1600 years ago. The area is full of breathtaking ruins, centered by a 30 meter pyramid with 94 steps on each of it's four sites, to function as a gigantic calendar back in the days (4*94=364 plus the top one for all of them makes it 365 total).

Chichén-Itzá is open for the public Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m while the current admission fee is 57$ per adult. Make sure to arrive early to avoid the big touristic crowds brought over from Tulum, Playa del Carmen and Cancún.

The next bigger city is Valladolid, which offers plenty of Airbnbs to spend the night. It's also the perfect location to start the next day early and visit the beautiful cenote Suytun ... 🎩

🇲🇽 (C) Ever seen a pink lake? No? Let's go to Las Coloradas then.

Las Coloradas is a small fishing village in the north-west of Yucatán and is very famous for it's pink salt lakes. The color is created by microorganisms that live in the water and also attract flamingos to stop by and eat.

Unfortunately the lakes nowadays are secured and the only way to take some pictures is to pay a minor admission fee and enter the area with a local guide. The good thing about it is, that the guides are very friendly and help you out on taking photos with your cellphone, while real cameras are prohibited. Make sure to arrive on a sunny day (which are most days in Mexico), since the colors won't be as posterizing on cloudy days.

The best places to stay the night can be found in the next big town 30 mins. west of Las Coloradas, Río Lagartos. Here's a little tip from my side: The street over there partly leads right next to a perfect white and completely solitary shore, hidden behind bushes. Take the time for a stop, when you see a small place to park and a path leading through the plants. You will be amazed!

If you are getting hungry after your trip, I recommend the restaurant "Maleconcito" in Río Lagartos. In my opinion they served the best breakfast in all of Mexico for a small price! 🎩

🇲🇽 (B) Next stop: Holbox!

Despite being a peninsular, Holbox can only be entered by ferry boat. The seaport to get over is located in a small town called Chiquilá. Round-trip tickets are available for about 20$. Many of the citizens of Chiquilá make their living by offering parking space to tourists at an acceptable expense.

Once you have made the half an hour ferry boat ride, you will arrive at the south side of Holbox, while most of the accommodations are located at the north beach. Since vacabounds like me usually travel with little luggage, I took a twenty minute walk through roughly build... well should I call it streets? Another way to travel around are the golf card taxis, that do the job, since cars are not allowed in this area. Doesn't that sound great right from the beginning?

The northbeach itself is marvelous and claims to offer the most beautiful sunsets in all over Mexico. Pure blue shallow water (if you don't arrive on a sea wheat day), tropical white sand, bars with cool music and tasty cocktails. The perfect spot to decelerate.

Well, what's your thoughts on Holbox? 🎩

🇲🇽 (A/I) Arriba Amigos, let's discover the touristic capital of Yucatán: Cancún.

First of, there is hardly any public transportation in Cancún. There are busses, which can carry you 'round and also taxis, which cost quite some money, but best thing is if you get yourself a rental car right at the airport.

After a long flight I decided to take on the first day easily at the beach. Arguably the best one around may be Playa Delphines, where I took this picture at. It's a nice place to hang out, as long as there is no seawheat polluting the shore. This is a general problem of Yucatan, mainly caused by the US industry, dumping tons of fertilizer into the ocean year after year. Playa Delphines is quite spacious, the only one you may have to share with are big lizards, that have been living here for long. If you are into taking pictures in front of the colorful CANCÚN letters, then Playa Delfines is also the place to go.

If your desperate in finding a heavenly paradise with tropical beaches, cristal clear water and awesome beach bars, I recommend taking a 30 minute ferry boat ride to Isla Mujeres north-east of Cancún. Tickets are available for about 35$, but it's worth every penny!

If you want to start your well deserved vacation with a hangover, make sure to visit the Coco Bongo Club! This extravaganza night club inspired by the movie "The Mask" surely is one of the best in the world, offering a multiple hour none stop show of fantastic artists, dancers and actors. The stage is framed by a huge video wall, helping to visualize detailed performances by Michael Jackson and other Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame like acts. Prices start from 80$ up to 200$ for VIPs.
