🔰 ROK Mekong People-Centered Sustainable Exchange
Since Korea-Mekong cooperation started in 2011,
Bilateral trade increased 2.5 times, and people-to-people exchange increased 3.3 times.
At the 2nd held on online on November 13, 2020, the relationship between Korea and the five Mekong countries (Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia) was upgraded to a 'strategic partnership'. .
The seven priority areas of cooperation in the ‘HanRiver-Mekong River Declaration’ at the 2019 Korea-Mekong Summit are △culture and tourism △human resource development △agricultural and rural development △infrastructure △ICT (information and communication technology) △environment △non-traditional security, etc.
President Moon Jae-in introduced major projects for 'joint prosperity through people-centered cooperation', 'reinforcement of regional connectivity and customized cooperation', and 'sustainable partnership', and asked for continued support and cooperation from the Mekong countries.

🔰 ROK-MEKONG Sustainable & Smart Tourism Development Project
The Korea-Mekong Sustainable & Smart Tourism Development Project
is one of the 7 priority cooperation areas,
△Culture/Tourism, △Human Resources Development, △Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
As part of efforts to help the ‘sustainable development’ of the five Mekong countries,
with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea,
the Mekong Institute and Daisy Park, Project Leader of the Republic of Korea,
formed a partnership and are implementing it for three years from 2020.
Mekong Institute conducted the 'Korea-Mekong Sustainable/Smart Tourism & Global Business Outreach' program
to strengthen the culture, tourism, and empowerment of both sides.

🔰 ROK-Mekong Sustainable & Smart Tourism Empowerment program
The course, held in July-August and November 2021, was conducted for students, entrepreneurs, office workers, and public officials from five Mekong countries located along the Mekong River.
Those who majored in smart, sustainable tourism industry or business registered mainly, and 98 people completed the course.
The curriculum includes ▲ Korean language training useful for those working in the trade and tourism industries, ▲ exploring Korea’s unique lifestyle through Korean life, travel culture, movies, and dramas, ▲ marketing skills targeting Koreans such as e-commerce, Instagram, blog writing, card news/video creation, etc.), ▲ case studies on Korea's sustainable-smart tourism, etc.

Former and incumbent announcers and live commerce experts in Korea shared practical know-how and experiences through an education program consisting of 10 lectures.
