When you think Group Travel what do you think of?

Today we say farewell to the beautiful country of Costa Rica, as well as the amazing colleagues we've gotten the chance to get to know over this past week.

We'll be excited to download with you everything we have learned from how to improve this workshop, to our favorite memories created along the way. Be on the lookout for some special things we've created just for YOU coming soon.

In the meantime Wendy and Krystal are boarding their flights, negative COVID tests in hand, and ready to get back to reality.

Today is our final full day in Costa Rica!

As we make our way back to San Jose, we will be stopping at the Mi Cafecito Coffee Plantation, another Planeterra Non-profit organization.

Mi Cafecito was founded after the earthquakes of 2009 left the local region devastated. The co-op began agricultural tours to boost profits to the local coffee plantation. Since its inception, Mi Cafecito has helped 285 members of the local community and directlyl impacts over 1100 community members in the region.

Today we will tour the farm and learn about their organic harvesting methods, have a chance to sample a cup of cafe, and enjoy a nice lunch. It's the perfect stop between La Fortuna and San Jose!

Our morning today started with a group yoga class led outside by a local instructor, followed by our workshop. ⁠

This afternoon we get the opportunity to partake in a hands on cooking class where we will learn more about local cuisine!⁠

This year has been particularly tough in our industry. The constant changing travel climate and obstacles advisors and travelers have overcome have been relentless. That's why we are so appreciative of the opportunity to connect and build community with our colleagues and learn and grow in an area that is so beautiful. ⁠

Today we are gearing up to explore the cloud forest of Monteverde.

You will find a lot of suspension bridges spread amidst the forest canopy. Being higher lets you observe and appreciate the complex ecosystems that emerge through the trees and in the valleys. The bridges are safely and smartly constructed so tourists can marvel at nature's beauty.

Suspension bridges come in different sizes, ranging from 100 to 1000 feet. Guided tours enhance your experience by pointing out the plants and animals that otherwise remain invisible. Monteverde is home to some of the worlds most famous suspension bridges.

Bridge tours are the perfect activity for those who are looking for an adrenaline rush!

So what does this have to do with a workshop?

The ability to move our bodies, explore and get real world experience in a destination that interests our clients, and collaborate with fellow agents along the way allows for (in our not so humber opinion) the best opportunity for real world learning.

So much better than sitting behind another webinar or long conference, right?

This morning we started out by setting our intentions and digging in to our first working breakfast for our Get Your Group On Workshop. Then we are heading out to Monteverde

Along the way we will take a moment to visit Life Monteverde, a coffee cooperative made up of 12 local families, dedicated to educating Costa Rica and the world about sustainable farming and conservation.

Visitors here directly benefit Life Monteverde's educational programs, which provide free access to local school groups, and training for Costa Ricans. We will have the opportunity to walk through the plantations of various tropical plants including bananas and pineapples, and learn about coffee growing and production, as well as various sustainable agriculture techniques like converting animal waste to fuel. Naturally we will also take the time to taste the coffee as we go!

We are so proud to be a part of the responsible and sustainable tourist movements that are happening in local communities around the world. It's a mission that aligns closely to the values and missions we embody at Travel Biz CEO.

Today our group is making their way to San Jose!

To prepare for this trip we have our vaccination card, passport, and plenty of patience and excitement to be back traveling again!

We have been eagerly anticipating this trip. This will be the first time we have met any of our Travel Biz CEO Members in person (yikes!) so we are a mixture of nerves and excitement.

But we are ready! We are ready to:

(and hopefully) Relax and learn to enjoy Pura Vida!

When it comes to marketing our businesses so many of us are doing it wrong!

Work smarter - not harder!

* Repurpose your original content - there's not need to reinvent the wheel. Cherry pick your best stuff and build on it.

* Repeat your messaging often! No one pays as much attention to our own content as we do. Trust me - they didn't hear you the first 5 times.

* Focus on relationship building - Don't worry about "selling" or "marketing." Worry about how to build relationships with a core group of die hard fans.

Definitely don't solely use generic templates that just plug and play, don't worry about posting daily, and don't try to appeal to the masses. Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream isn't for everyone - and it doesn't try to be. Neither should you.

Because this was always designed to be an in-person event with SO MUCH tailored to the individual participants, it's difficult to convert to a straight video tutorial. So for now we think it is best kept as a live in-person offering.

🙋 We get asked often, “Can’t I just buy a virtual course that teaches this?” and well, the answer is yes - but you’re going to spend hundreds of $$ to purchase videos that you have a 50/50 chance of consuming. Then you miss out on the opportunity to mastermind, to talk through YOUR unique situation, and get on the ground materials to use for marketing later on.

Wendy and Krystal collectively have gone through this process many times. We’ve gone through the trial and error process so you don’t have to.

👉 And here’s the thing - most group travel models that are taught focus on joint-venture models or encourage you to find a pied piper. There are several industry leaders that swear this is the only way to successfully sell groups, short of becoming a destination wedding specialist. And if bridezillas are not your thing, then you are really left with few options.

But we KNOW that there are people out there dying to add this model to their business. The difference with us? No snake oil sold here. This is hard. This is a long game. And there is a definite right way and wrong way to doing it. But we know that it CAN be done.

In this workshop we are going to talk through the little details that help keep you on track and set you apart from those cricket concert inducing agents that try to announce group trips.
