It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Jackson County! Volunteers have begun turning downtown Holton into a winter wonderland in preparation for our Small Town Christmas event! Our wonderful volunteers are installing temporary window murals on storefronts all around the square! On Saturday, December 9th, head to downtown Holton and check out the murals in person! Stay tuned for more event details soon to be announced!

Check out this fantastic Fall Fest poster made by Holton High School student, Kadyn Wheeler! Fall Fest is Saturday, October 14th! Be sure to come out and enjoy the festivities!

Did you know there will be an annular solar eclipse taking place DURING FALL FEST?! The moon will move in front of the sun and will appear as though the moon has a “ring of fire” around it. It’s not safe to look directly at the eclipse without special eyewear but, lucky for you, Banner Creek Science Center & Observatory will be selling eclipse glasses for $2 at their booth that day!

There will also be a book walk around the square featuring “Look Up!” by Robert Burleigh — the story of Henrietta Leavitt, a pioneering woman astronomer. Enlarged pages of the book will be on display in participating business windows, so you can enjoy the story as you stroll around the square! The pages will be transferred to Holton Community Theatre on October 19 where they will be displayed in the hallway there during the theater's final performances that weekend of Silent Sky.

Be sure to come out to Delia Days on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for the dedication of the beautiful mural by artist Garrett Larson. This incredible addition to Jackson County's vibrant public art offerings is sure to draw attention to all Delia has to offer! Make sure to go visit all the public art available all over Jackson County!

Garrett Larson was enlisted by the small town of Delia to create artwork that would help attract visitors.

The Jackson County Historical and Genealogical Society of Kansas is a non-profit, all-volunteer-run group dedicated to preserving Jackson County, Kansas, history. Volunteers work to preserve the artifacts, printed materials, oral history, and other relevant materials which serve to record the history of our area. The Historical Society brings together those who are interested in history and the items available to the public for display, research, educational, and informational purposes.
Their motto, "Preserving the Past to Serve the Future" guides their mission to serve our community.

Have you had a chance to hear The Jackson County Community Band Play? We are incredibly lucky to be able to enjoy live music at many local events played by our very own Community Band!
The Jackson County Community Band was founded by Sheri Bartel and Laura Holliday in the summer of 2013. Jayme Malsom came in as a co-director in the summer of 2014.
The JCCB plays 3 to 5 concerts each summer in and around Jackson County. They are a volunteer ensemble drawing from the musical talents of the Jackson County schools and communities. Additionally, they have musicians join us from around northeast Kansas on a regular basis.
All musicians with band experience are welcome to join the JCCB.

We are getting excited about this year's Pride of Hoyt Days, and we hope you are too! This Saturday looks to be a fun-filled day of events starting off with a color run at 7:30 am, a sand volleyball tournament at 8 am, a co****le tournament at 11am, and a Pass, Punt & Kick competition featuring the Royal Valley Football Team also starting at 11! Between the vendors, the food, and the fun, Hoyt is the place to be this Saturday so make sure you head on out for a good time!
