Nezu Museum
Traditional East Asian and Japanese art meet contemporary architecture in the Nezu Museum, a minimalist space redesigned by Kengo Kuma. High ceilings, bamboo walls, and enormous windows overlooking the museum’s leafy surroundings in Aoyama district make this feel more like visiting the home of a sophisticated friend than a conventional gallery. That’s fitting, since the museum was once the private residence of Nezu Kaichirō, the president of Japan's Tobu Railway. Much of its impressive 7,400-piece collection comes from his private stash of pre-modern works. Although it’s hardly unknown, the museum has managed to stay relatively under the radar and wandering through the six exhibition spaces even on weekends is a stress-free affair. Take in the sculpture, ceramics, and calligraphy at your own pace, then make your way to one of the most exquisite private gardens in the city.

Yata
Yata is a warmly glowing oasis floating 10 floors above the neon-lit frenzy of Shinjuku’s east side. It’s standing-room-only at this cozy sake specialist, so park yourself at one of the hexagonal wooden tables or sidle up to the counter, which curves around the room and overlooks the Blade Runner-esque scene below. The extensive sake menu changes daily, and we recommend the tasting flight, which allows you to try a variety of brews.

Cornerstone, Hackney Wick
Tom Brown learnt his trade in the stable of Nathan Outlaw, whose eponymous London and Cornish restaurants both hold Michelin stars. A few years ago Brown has opened a place of his own – just two minutes from Hackney Wick, the space is light and bright, with a handful of terracotta-potted succulents and pendant lights above the open kitchen. Somewhat more surprising though, that kitchen is right in the middle of the restaurant, so there’s not a bad seat in the house. Start with a Cornerstone G&T, made with own-brand gin that’s been distilled with cloudy apple juice from Polgoon Orchard in Cornwall rather than water and served with apple, samphire and a herbal tonic. As for food, you can’t avoid the fishiness – but then again, that’s what you’re here for. Crispy hake kiev comes with mussel butter and parsely emulsion, crab thermidor piled onto a warm (and well-buttered) crumpet. Tabitha Joyce

Roti King, Euston
The original Roti King is in a basement joint in Euston, a part of town most of us try to avoid at supper time unless we’re forced into catching a post-work train. But most Londoners in the know will make an exception for the buttery roti this spot is famous for – perfect for scooping up mouthfuls of curry (lamb, fish, chicken) or daal. The dining room is nothing fancy, but the omnipresent queue outside says it all – this is some of the most delicious, authentic Malaysian food in the city. Order a traditional lemon iced tea, and a roti with mutton khari, and you’ll only be set back just over a tenner. Brilliant value, and utterly deserving of a spot on our edit. Sarah James

Built around 1180 A.D., the Borgund Stave Church is one of Norway's finest examples of a stave church, a wooden structure defined by its corner-posts and timber frames. Iceland
There really is no wrong time to visit Iceland, but we’re particularly fond of chasing the midnight sun during July—the more daylight hours for exploring, the better. The summer months also make certain parts of the country accessible that might not be in the winter, including the 34-mile Laugavegurinn hiking trail in the Central Highlands. The mountain huts and campsites along the trail are only open between late June and early September, giving you a small time window to experience the hot springs, black lava fields, and multicolored mountains along the path.

Philadelphia
If you’re hoping to travel over the Fourth of July, look no further than Philadelphia. (You might as well celebrate America’s birthday in America’s birthplace, right?) The city goes all out for the holiday with its annual Wawa Welcome America festival, which actually begins on June 19 this year to incorporate Juneteenth into its recognition of American independence. The 16-day celebration features dozens of free events across the city, culminating on July 4 with a massive concert (headliners this year are Jason Derulo and Ava Max) on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, followed by fireworks over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Rothenberg Germany
Rothenberg is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Germany and part of the famous romantic road through southern Germany. The full name of this city is Rothenberg ob der Tauber means the Red Castle above the Tauber (river). It is because this town is situated on a knap overlooking the Tauber River.

Rothenberg is too touristy so to skip the crowd you must explore this town early in the morning and walk inside & outside of the wall to take better pictures. The main attraction of this town is the Charming Old Town itself.

The 13th-century town hall tower is the higher point of the city where you can get a birds-eye view of this beautiful city.

Sarandë is a city in the Republic of Albania and seat of Sarandë Municipality. Geographically, the city is located on an open sea gulf of the Ionian Sea within the Mediterranean Sea. Stretching along the Albanian Ionian Sea Coast, Saranda typically has a Mediterranean climate with over 300 sunny days a year.

Sarandë is known for its blue deep waters of the Mediterranean. Near Sarandë are the remains of the ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In recent years, Saranda has seen a steady increase in tourists, many of them coming by cruise ship. Visitors are attracted by the natural environment of Saranda and its archaeological sites. Sarandë is inhabited by a majority of ethnic Albanians, and also has a minority Greek community and as such it has been considered one of the two centers of the Greek minority in Albania.
