What can I say? I loved this place. The views were stunning over the valley and the snow-capped mountains.

I had so much fun with the kids in the senses park, chasing snow, trying all water features and throwing rock into the lake.

I love destinations that are lesser-known but immensely creative to make to most out of their resources.

This Austrian mountain is the epitome of how to turn itself into an eco-friendly, natural fun (theme) park for all ages.

Only bloomed for a couple hours then it withered.

Help me out. I don’t remember its name but this orchid bloomed right outside of the but it was good by evening. The guide said it is a special species that only blooms for a handful of hours.

What does this remind you of? I start…It reminds me of embroidery. Nature’s needlework.

I wrote a detailed review about and how to spend the best 4 days in Northern Costa Rica.

The first time I sat down for lunch, just five minutes after we arrived, a little keel-billed toucan flew to the nearby bush. It comfortably sat there for three solid minutes, looking around and then at me. We made brief eye contact before it flew away. That was the moment I realized I was going to love this place, love my time at Origins Lodge and in Costa Rica.

In the North Atlantic Ocean, 200 miles north of the United Kingdom, is an enchanting volcanic archipelago called the Faroe Islands. It’s a fascinating place unlike any other on earth.

The population is small – roughly 54,000 people – most of whom can trace their lineage to Old Norse-speaking settlers who arrived in the early 9th century.

They’re outnumbered by sheep. 70,000 of the animals reside here, and they’re put to work – many houses in the Faroes have grass roofs, and sheep are used as living lawnmowers. Other animals love it here, too. Over 100 different species of birds call these islands home.

As you can tell, the scenery is breathtaking. Distinctive mountains climb high above the North Atlantic’s dark swirling waters. It’s a landscape defined by fjords – you’re never further than 3 miles from the sea in the Faroe Islands.

The weather is harsh. Expect strong winds and heavy rain throughout the year. Its northerly location has a big impact on the length of its days, too. In summer, it never gets darker than dusk in the Faroes; there are almost 20 hours of daylight. In winter, it’s the opposite. Days are short and dark, with just 5 hours of light to enjoy the views.

Have you ever been on a night walk in the rainforest? You are in the company of snakes, lizards, spiders, caterpillars, crickets, ants and all kinds of nocturnal animals.

I was surprised but none of them came close to me. Neither did I come close to them.

It was equal@part frighting and thrilling. What was your experience?

Goodby . We are gonna miss you. Going to sleeping with the sound of water. Waking up with the chirping of the birds. The view from our terrace was the perfect motivation to get up with the sunrise.

Now I miss zip-lining the best. Check out the highlights if you wanna see the epic 350 meter long last section. It was an amazing experience and view.

is a place where you get out of your comfort zone in a good way. Zip-lining, tubing, canyoning, rafting, hiking, swimming in a waterfall are all part of the adventure. I felt alive and relaxed at the same time.

This little beauty is just right outside the main dining area. You can swim, relax or get a massage from the waterfall. It was wonderful to be here.

Just arrived to after a 2-hour rafting tour. We swam in a swimming hole, rescued a Blue Morpho Butterfly, and saw several birds like herrons and kingfishers. It was an amazing way to get to the lodge.

Next up is zip-lining.

We visited Caño Negro in Costa Rica. We saw a crocodile, 36 caimans, 13 iguanas, a group of howler monkeys, and countless birds. Every 2 feet there was something new to see. It is one of the most under-the-radar wildlife refugees in Costa Rica.

The photo shows the view from the observatory tower.

We just hiked for 45 minutes to Oro Waterfall with a certified local guide. We saw and heard howler monkeys, birds, leaf cutter ants, lizards, and many other insects. He showed us ocelot claw marks, dried sap of rubber tree, 250-years old kodek tree. He shared many interesting facts about the region, the wildlife and Costa Rica. Then we went horseback riding back to the .

It was one of the best experience so far.

Don’t touch starfish....❌❌❌
This is a request to all tourists, don’t tuch starfish. REQUEST TO ALL GUIDE Please make your clients aware of this.
What happens when we lift a starfish out of water for an impromptu photo session?
All over the body of starfish are papules called dermal gills. Carbon dioxide gases are exchanged for oxygen between the coelomic liquid of the starfish and the water. Essentially, it’s how they breathe, like having hundreds of tiny noses all over your body.
As fresh air is toxic to starfish and they can’t hold their breath for very long, each time they’re lifted out of the water for a photo op, they are drowning and suffering from a build up of carbon dioxide. It’s the equivalent of someone filling your lungs with water for a little while and then emptying them again. It’s not a good day out. When this is done repeatedly, it’s a flip of the coin as to whether the poor creature can die from drowning or the stress of being semi-drowned so many times.
Wildlife are not our playthings. Just because a creature is slow enough to be caught by human hands, that doesn’t give us the right to do so, and the social media attention gained certainly does not justify the harm caused to the critter.
This is an act we’re all guilty of at some point. What was happening to that animal in the moment didn’t cross our minds. But now we know better, so we must do better.
