Remember Kanche? Kids born in and before the 90's definitely will! The hills are blessed with the lack of technology and it was absolutely delightful to see children out there play this game. Memories came flooding back of my friends shrieking and laughing as we bagged all those pretty marbles.

For those who are new to Kanche, this popular gully sport was played by hitting a marble kept in a hand-drawn mud circle. If the target was properly hit then the winner got to keep the kancha of the opposite side. The children in this video have replaced it with coins.

This game spawned proud collections of numerous and differently coloured kanchas or marbles.

I thank Himalayan Eye for their keen interest in helping tourists explore the ancient Himalayan Culture and not just take tourists for a normal trek. This gave me the opportunity to connect with my inner child.
