I AM BACK!! We took a chance on an Alaskan cruise during what is typically the coldest month that Alaskan cruises sail - May. Well it was MAGIC!! Glacier Bay has approximately 4 days of the year without rain and we timed it on one of those rainless days. 5 glaciers. I was eating my breakfast and sailing past 2 of them. Pinch me. We also had mostly sunny days for all of the ports we visited. We stopped in Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. We visited Mendenhall Glacier, a salmon hatchery, Glacier Gardens, a gold mine. We rode the White Pass Railway circuit back into Canada and through the most gorgeous white mountains and forest. We watched the Great American Lumberjack show and visited the Saxman Native Village and watched them dance and sing and display their magnificent totems. In our "down" time we sat on our verandah and watched humpback whales, doll porpoises and puffins. We did some fun trivia contests, watched some amazing dancers on the main stage and ate lots of delicious food. We sailed with Holland America Line. I was impressed with their service and amenities. We were amongst 500 guests when a typical cruise would have 1900 guests plus crew. This made it extra special. This cruise was so convenient as it was a quick plane ride to Vancouver, and the cruise started and ended there. Travelling has some covid inconveniences but the trade off is having a huge cruise ship feel like it's all yours while you are quickly on first name basis with other passengers and crew. I LOVE CRUISING. I was able to realize what it was that feels so good about a cruise and that is my mind and body do a total detachment from life. You sail away, you follow the journey, and you sail back to port - rested, restored and rejuvenated. Interested in cruising?? I can help with that. 🤩 (Attaching a photo of my view at breakfast)
