A passenger seated in 4A handed a letter to a flight attendant outlining their travel requirements. They insisted that no coffee be served on board the flight, no nuts, and that they needed to be shielded from perfumes; colognes; scented soap; body lotion; and jet fuel.

They also wanted a large bottle of water – the kind crew use to serve the cabin rather than individual-sized bottles.

I am highly allergic to the smell of coffee and would appreciate it if you could refrain from brewing coffee. As even the smell can stop my breathing.

It sounds like they’ve been tasting the Fresh Brew coffee onboard American Airlines! The note ends thanking the flight attendant for making the flight “as enjoyable as possible for me.”
The passenger says they have a severe cashew allergy and want the flight attendant not to serve any nuts onboard.

I think we’ve discovered the worst hotels in the world that have resort fees. Not coincidentally, they’re at two of the most absurdly named properties I’ve come across.

The Developer Inn Express Fundamental, a Travelodge by Wyndham charges a $14.70 resort fee. That’s at a property with a base room rate of less than $50! It’s a Travelodge.
Here’s the hotel, charging $60 inclusive of the fee.

And here’s the detail. The resort fee is nearly 30% of the base room rate.

How on earth, you might ask, is a Travelodge charging resort fees? It’s in the bottom 20% of properties in the area on TripAdvisor:

The hotel is.. near Disney World. But that’s why you’re renting the room and paying the room rate. So why is that extra? Free breakfast at a Travelodge, and a pool, don’t make it a resort either.
Now, there’s also the Developer Inn Highway A Howard Johnson by Wyndham. Their pool is “closed for maintenance until further notice.” Yet there’s no discount on the $14.70 resort fee.

I think we've discovered the worst hotels in the world that have resort fees. Not coincidentally, they're at two of the most absurdly named properties I've come across.

United Airlines is making 3 big changes to MileagePlus that no one is likely to be happy about. They’re making changes to award rules, upgrades, and upgrade pricing.

Here are the 3 changes:

- August 21, 2025, United will eliminate the “Excursionist Perk” for all new bookings. That’s United’s limited free stopover program. Existing bookings will be honored but not if any changes are made after August 21. This is a big loss for award maximizers who would build in a second side trip onto their awards. The excursionist perk was the concession United gave members when eliminating free stopovers eight years ago.

- Also August 21, 2025 will drop instant upgrades at the time of booking for elite members buying the most expensive (Y, B, and M) fares. Customers could immediately confirm an upgrade if seats were available at booking on these fares.

There is much to love about Italy beyond the usual destinations such as that of Rome or Venice. In fact, if you want to enjoy crystal-clear waters and pristine beaches, visiting the famed Italian Riviera cities is a must on your travel itinerary!

The Italian Riviera (also called Ligurian Riviera) is a coastal strip in Italy found between the Ligurian Sea and the towering mountains of the Maritime Alps and the Apennines.

Once you arrive in the heart of Taipei, go and quickly enjoy its iconic landmarks as well as its busy night markets and colorful culture! With that, I’ll be listing the top attractions in the city; however, it would be impossible to thoroughly visit EVERYTHING (unless you swiftly go through every location).
That’s why, depending on your interests, pick the best places that you’d like to see within the day for your Taiwan itinerary based on the descriptions that I’ll be providing below (my top favorites are marked with a star ★); and then, you can visit the rest during your other free time or during your other trip days if you’re staying longer than 3 days in Taiwan.
◘◘ ★ Taipei 101
Formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, Taipei 101 was once called the world’s tallest building in 2004 — until Burj Khalifa in Dubai was completed in 2010.

My travels in 2025 began with a six-week trip to Mexico and the US. Almost entirely to places I had visited before, with only Houston and Austin being new.
And while I’m usually able to keep up the work when traveling, it all fell apart these last two months. In part because of the turmoil in the United States, as the government fully embraces fascism, as phones are searched at borders for political opinions, as ICE kidnaps people, as many frequent visitors refuse to return to the United States, as the economy crashes while the billionaires get richer.
I know what to do as a citizen. I donate. I call my reps. I boycott. I amplify. I protest when I can, and support protestors when I can’t. I even make political travel videos on Instagram and TikTok.
But in terms of the work that actually earns me a living, I’ve felt frozen.

I was invited to Helsinki months ago by its tourism board in order to take part in their campaign named . Their simple yet exciting aim for this project was to introduce the city to travelers like me as they planned experiences that would give us an overview of how the locals live in this distinguished capital of Finland. (Free Things to Do in Helsinki)
I stayed there for a week in a great apartment hotel called Aallonkoti, and without a doubt, such a span of time and stay was enough for me to fall deeply in love with Helsinki.
I can’t quite describe the exact wondrous feeling that I felt, but the closest description that I can say is that though it’s a city that is dynamic and esthetic, it still had such a ‘small town’ feeling to it — I just felt right at ‘home’, which must be the reason why I left a part of my heart there. True enough, it was incredibly refreshing how the city moves on in such a laid-back manner.
However, don’t let its size fool you.

Here are the top 10 FREE things to do in Helsinki, Finland — a captivating European city that is full of wonder and style.

Even among local tourists, Si Saket is often overlooked as a travel destination. Understandably so—it sits between Buriram and Ubon Ratchathani, both of which attract far more visitors than the quiet, unassuming Si Saket. But that doesn’t mean you should skip it.
I spent weeks exploring southern Isaan, and Si Saket surprised me the most with its wonderful and charming attractions that not many people know about. From a temple built out of bottles to stunning Khmer ruins dotting the landscape—without further ado, here’s a complete travel guide to Si Saket:
