In case you're new to Le Corbu and just following because you love me - - - he was born in 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland as Charles-Édouard Jeanneret but later changed his name in 1920. Architecture wasn't taught at the time in the way that it is now so he essentially lacked higher education and taught himself/learned empirically as he went along. This beauty, Villa Savoye, is perhaps his most well known design and was "finished" around 1928 (the quotations because the construction of the building was experimental and had lots of issues from the get go).
