From wild beginnings, borne from acid house culture to saving lives and supporting children in crisis around the globe - today we celebrate the incredible work of Walk on the Wild Side co-founder, Jonny Lee, as his dance music charity, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life celebrates its tenth anniversary.

“From as far back as 1986, Jonny was inspired by club culture and the beauty of the infamous island of Ibiza, which has been home now for 20 years. At the forefront of one the biggest movements the UK has ever seen, Acid House, Jonny teamed up with DIY Sound Collective and exported the vibe to Ibiza, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

In late 1991 he built a club at the home of the world famous ‘Full Moon Party’ on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand and ‘Vinyl Café’ became the first beach bar to have turntables in South Asia. He went on to set up a travelling community radio station, AUTONOMOUS ZONE, first in the Himalayas, then Mumbai and eventually Ibiza and in 2010, driven by the aim of adding a purpose to the dance floor, Jonny launched the charity, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (LNADJ).

The charity which supports causes around the globe has made a difference to the lives of many children in crisis whilst making house music history in its tracks. LNADJ staged the first House party (House the House) at the British Houses of Parliament with ambassadors and legends of the scene, Fatboy Slim and Carl Cox and in 2018, their ‘Aint No Mountain High Enough’ campaign broke the world record for the highest ever DJ set with ambassador and house music pioneer, Nightmares On Wax.

The sunrise has get an extra dose of Ibiza magic today as we wake up to the news restrictions are to be reduced, slowly and in phases, and we are able to explore our beautiful island again 🚶🏼‍♂️

Today, for the first time in six weeks the kids in Spain are allowed out, in line with social distancing guidelines and regulations, and it’s a very beautiful thing to see families on the beach again 😎

As this gives us hope that we may soon be able to get out and explore our beautiful island, our hearts and thoughts are with those who have lost friends and family during these past few weeks and who won’t be able to walk with their loved ones again ❤️

Day Four and what would have been our last walk, on our first ever Walk on the Wild Side and we'd have been ending on an almighty high!

Our final big one would have been a whopping 20km, starting and finishing at Coco Beach, Playa D'En Bossa and joined by the Godfather of Old Skool, Slipmatt.

We'd take in the stunning nature reserve and salt flats close to Salinas Beach before heading onwards and upwards to Cap des Falco. Then we'd walk along ancient paths through a hidden valley, back to where we started.

After a quick change we'd be off to Ibiza's traditional Ibango Tribe, just behind Amnesia, for our alternative after-party with legendary international percussionist, Trace Harris.

The perfect authentic ending to four days exploring the real Ibiza - but - all the best things come to those who wait ❤️
