Let’s talk Madeira!

Madeira has been a hot spot for Europeans for YEARS. Bringing even Winston Churchill to the island. The airport sees private planes pretty much daily. Luxury programs for wealthy Europeans happen every day all year. Americans are just learning about the island, so it’s still “off the beaten path” for many here. Which is the lure of it all.

When is the best time to travel there? ALWAYS. I wish I was kidding, but honestly. Always. It’s the island of Eternal Spring. The weather is always lovely. Some warmer than others, but never “cold”.

If i had to pick an ideal time. March through Nov for the warmest weather. Dec for the festive season. The Christmas markets with no coat is fabulous. Super fun Carnival next February school break… May brings us the Flower Festival. September the Wine Festival.

It was given the award of Best Festival location because they are always celebrating something! Last but NOT LEAST of course their famous for New year’s eve and the most amazing firework show. This is an award winning event!

With United opening the Non-stop out of Newark starting this summer. The vibe, the weather, the people, the food, the poncha! It’s always just right.

Did you know most airlines are now charging you for a “ preferred” seat EVEN in coach!!
This can mean an aisle or a window seat cost more then a middle! 😡. Here is some information on what to expect.

Delta seems to be preferred so I have shared some tips for this carrier!

Key points about Delta’s preferred seating:

Basic Economy exclusion:
Passengers who purchase a Basic Economy fare are not eligible to buy preferred seats.

Seat selection cost:
For most passengers in the main cabin, selecting a preferred seat will require an additional fee.

SkyMiles benefits:
Higher tier SkyMiles members may be able to select preferred seats at no extra cost. ( SO JOIN earn points get status)

Location advantage:
Preferred seats are usually located in the front of the plane, offering quicker boarding and disembarking

GONE are the days of the first bag being free …. However Delta SkyMiles American Express cardholders can check their first bag free on Delta flights if they book with their card and include their SkyMiles number. This benefit applies to up to eight passengers on the same reservation.

How to get the benefit
Include your SkyMiles number when booking your flight or….

Add your SkyMiles number when checking in or….

Look up your itinerary and click “Add Loyalty Program #”
