Cruising the World
There are so many options available to us when it comes to traveling these days and enjoying a cruise is a popular one and having been on my first cruise, I can see why. I was worried I might get bored but there was no chance of that happening, there is just so much to do onboard a cruise ship.
There is always something to do no matter what your taste or age, the younger kids love craft projects and the older ones are usually off exploring, playing pirates, or up to something to make them happy too, even the toddlers have their little crafts to do.
The food is always great and the various restaurants are available aboard all day so you will never get bored. I especially liked the Asian restaurant onboard which had a wide variety on offer. If your type of food doesn't like spicy then there is a non-spicy option. Some of the meals are so huge it might break your diet but you can take your sweet time. One evening we had a 'Black Tie' dinner so if you love getting all dressed up for a posh dinner then this is for you, of course, you can still eat in one of the more casual restaurants onboard if you prefer.
If you choose to travel on a cruise then you will have many destinations to choose from, you could be taken all around Europe. There are plenty of places you can visit and If you love shopping you are spoilt for choice on board.
I did a bit of horseback riding and was able to get some lessons at a lovely spot on the coast of Portugal just north of Lisbon. I rode on the sandy beaches, it was like a scene from a movie it was just magical and one of the highlights of the whole cruise for me. There were many excursions you could go on when the ship was in port or you could take advantage of the ship's facilities whilst it is quiet when most people are ashore.
Our cabin on board was surprisingly spacious and well equipped, we even had room service bring us a champagne breakfast one morning (for an extra charge of course) which we enjoyed on the balcony. A cabin with a balcony is more expensive but it is so worth it, laying in bed on a calm warm evening with the balcony door open, listening to the sound of the ocean and being able to see the stars...perfect!! Not to mention having your own private little space to enjoy the sunshine during the day, for me it is a must-have.
Out on deck, there were outdoor cocktail bars, cinema screen, swimming pools, climbing walls and all kinds of activities and indoors you have a shopping area, gymnasiums, various restaurants, bars, cinema, casino and even got in a few games of Table Tennis one afternoon before going for a sunbathe.
So, you may fancy cruising around the sunny Caribbean, going ashore to experience the fantastic beaches or cruising off to see the Northern Lights or maybe even a River Cruise if the thought of being out on the open seas does not appeal to you, taking in many historical cities along the way, which ever way you prefer, cruising is just a fantastic way to spend your holiday time.
