Barmouth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Barmouth's location on the west coast of North Wales and lying between a mountain range and the sea on the mouth of the river Mawddach is arguably one of the most beautiful locations in Wales. It rests just within the south west corner of Snowdonia National Park and is steeped in a history rich with connections to the shipping and slate industries.

Dolgoch 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 3 waterfalls walk

he Tal-y-Lyn Valley in the south-western part of Snowdonia National Park takes in a wooded gorge along the Nant Dol-goch stream, a tributary of the River Fathew. Though the area is just four miles inland from the beaches of Tywyn on the coast it feels much more remote and rugged. A series of three waterfalls tumble down the steep sides of the gorge into pools below, and a popular circular walk links all three waterfalls.

The walk is short - about 1-mile round trip - and well signposted. The going is fairly easy and should pose no problems for anyone of reasonable mobility.

Shrewsbury and Scrooge’s Grave - England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Shrewsbury is Shropshire’s county town and is perfectly placed in the centre of our rural county. Shrewsbury’s town centre is almost an island, encircled by a meandering loop of the River Severn. Within its loop are distinctive churches, Shrewsbury Castle, beautiful timber-framed houses and a sweeping riverside parkland known as the Quarry or Quarry Park.

Tu Hwnt i'r Bont ('Beyond the Bridge') is a 15th-century grade II listed building in the Community of Llanrwst, in the county of Conwy, in north Wales. It is situated on the left bank of the River Conwy across Pont Fawr ('Big Bridge') from the town of Llanrwst. Originally built as a farmhouse, Tu Hwnt i’r Bont is actually considerably older than the Inigo Jones bridge it stands beside. Some years later, during the 16th century, the building was used as the Courthouse for the surrounding area.

Over the centuries Tu Hwnt i’r Bont has fallen into disrepair several times and been rebuilt and restored. During the last century, Tu Hwnt i’r Bont was acquired by the National Trust who have since leased the building for over 50 years.

A decision was made by the original leaseholder, over half a century ago, to turn Tu Hwnt i’r Bont into a traditional Welsh Tea Rooms.

Castle Combe - Wiltshire, England

Castle Combe is a quintessentially English village often named as the ‘prettiest village in England.' The village sits in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in north west Wiltshire.

Castle Combe has featured regularly as a film location, most recently in The Wolf Man, Stardust and Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse. It was also used in the original Dr Doolittle film.
The village has a rich history and the houses are made up of the honey coloured Cotswold stone, typical for a village of this area.

Within Castle Combe you’ll find a Market Cross and St Andrew’s Church which dates from the 13th century. The church houses a faceless clock which is reputed to be one of the oldest working clocks in the country. You’ll also find a couple of pubs and a luxury hotel with a golf course within the village.

Stroll along the village to the bridge and you’ll not only enjoy the views but may be able to purchase homemade cakes, sweets or bunches of flowers from outside the locals’ houses. Stop at the bottom of the village by the bridge and enjoy a great photographic moment too!
