Today was spent at Glenuig, paddling as part of Billy’s Coastal Leader assessment. We set off at 6.30am to get some dark paddling in, before heading off round the coast line. We tackled offshore winds, swells and breaking waves. Its a stunning location and it was made even better by the 14 degree weather ☀️

It was a sad end for my drysuit too which is absolutely no longer a drysuit, I would have been drier if I’d not worn it 🥲

It’s great to paddle in new locations and meet new people 🥰

Do we still paddle in Autumn & Winter? Yes we do! 💯

This time of year can be calm, still and stunning 🍁🍂

Last week we both rushed home from work and straight out onto the loch before the light faded. After a stormy few weeks, it was so great to be able to get out onto the water.

Although our online calendar is closed, we are offering hires and lessons by request over the next few months so get in touch if you’re interested. We have warmer wetsuits for the colder months and will make sure you’re well kitted out 😊

We’re quiet, but we’re still here ❤️

The weather hasn’t really been on our side these last few weeks, so we haven’t been advertising any lessons or hires. We are still open though and when there’s some nice conditions we’ll advertise availability.

Today I rushed home from my office job and straight onto the water when I was sent a pic of these conditions. This was Ralfie’s first time on a paddleboard too, and he seemed to enjoy it 🌭🏄🏼‍♀️

Pictures from our perfect paddle earlier this week ☀️☀️

This couple had paddled once before and were determined to fit a paddle in whilst visiting Brora. Taking advantage of the sun, they walked up to Loch Brora to meet me 🥾🌳 a beautiful 4 mile walk which takes in the river, fields and trees alongside the single track road.

Tomorrow is our last booked session of the year. We’ll advertise some ad-hoc weekend availability over the colder season, based on the weather and will take requests for sessions 🏄🏼‍♀️

Gran & granddaughter birthday adventure 🎁🎉

Each year this lovely pair have a little birthday adventure and this year they chose to come paddle boarding with us 🥰 What a great way to celebrate their birthdays together.

Gran had never paddle boarded before and was on her feet and looking steady very quickly. Granddaughter had been once before and was keen to get up and going straight away, and at speed 💨😝 we struggled to keep up.

Conditions were great, with a bright sky and the sun warming us up ☀️

They also left us a lovely review on google, which was so lovely to read;
‘What an amazing paddle boarding experience. Excellent tuition and so friendly. Grandaughter and Gran had a brilliant time. The setting was beautiful and will definately be back. Would highly recommend. Thank you for having us.’

If you’ve been paddle boarding with us chances are you’ve met Isla. She has been volunteering with us for 3 seasons now and has been a massive help with setting up for sessions, towing kids (and some adults!), helping people build confidence, teaching paddle strokes and self rescues, encouraging jumps and keeping an extra eye out on the water.

We nominated her for the .sutherland.official Young Citizen of the Year award because of her volunteering with us (and other places), and we’re delighted to say that she won!

Her own paddling and confidence has come on immensely during this time and we’re grateful to have her as part of the team ❤️

✨Sunset SUP Social✨

Determined to make the most of the few days of lovely weather, we headed out to spend some time on the water and catch the sunset. We had a beautiful evening and welcomed back some folks to the water who hadn’t been paddling for a while. We stayed in the water until the glow behind Carrol Rock faded away 🌅 it was a great night, hopefully we’ll get conditions like this for another social before the end of the season 🤞

North Coast Watersports are running a surf & yoga retreat on Sunday 🏄🏼‍♀️🧘🌊🧘 perfect way to spend a Sunday.

Final call for our surf & yoga day retreat, this Sunday🏄🏽‍♀️ Follow us along the coast to the beach with the best waves on the day, we’ll carry out a full surf lesson then provide a pack lunch afterwards. Followed by yoga studio in Thurso. It’s going to be a good day😊

This afternoon we hit the water for another beginners session.

We had some tough conditions with the wind blowing down the loch but we did what we could and did a lot of practice in dealing with the wind!

Both did incredibly well and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones. The smiles at the end (pic 1) show how pleased they were 😄

Celebrating 10 fantastic years of Golspie Rowing Club! 🎉 Come along to the Seafront Centre Wednesday 4th September for a bit of fun and give coastal rowing a go. 🚣

For any spectators we'll have refreshments available and a club display in the Seafront Centre showcasing the last 10 years. We look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks!

Well done to all of our beginners today who were trying paddle boarding for the first time!

We were blessed with what is now a rare day of sunny and calm conditions. Although the loch is a bit cooler we have some 5mm wetsuits which kept everyone warm and toasty.

It was a beautiful morning for a private lesson at the loch last weekend. Melanie had never paddle boarded before but was more than happy to get stuck in and try everything I threw at her!
